I do not agree with you that Victor should loose our respect because he accepts payment to work for the Sun.
As far as I know, he is not a Liverpool supporter, and the history of the Hillsborough tragedy has faded in other parts of the country, with the exception of Merseyside.
If you wish to apportion blame, you should also blame every other person that works for the Sun, and see how their families would thank you for rendering them homeless and peniless.

I think Victor is a Liverpool fan, as he was discussing the team in some detail with Jay in one of his late night chats last week.
I would have thought Victor will get a lot more lucrative work than writing for the Sun - after all that will only last until BB ends. I wouldn't be surprised if he gets some TV work (unrelated to BB), as he seems very confident in front of a camera, has a quick wit, and is pretty intelligent.

And as you have noted, his best medum seems to be on TV, probably on some of these music/teen shows. His streetwise wit is arguably the equal to some of the current crop of presenters in this genre, and he has proved to be able to tone down the profanity level in formal interviews on BBLB. I think kids would warm to him as a contemporary and believable character.

It is true that Victor would, on balance, get loads of offers elsewhere. I can not delve into his mind and ask: why, oh why the Sun, as others have been asking.
I suppose that, with an agent (as provided by BB) giving advice, the Sun deal was appropriate for him to take up. One never knows where the next deal might crop up tomorrow. Snubbing them now might come back to hurt him.

Ive never cheated on my parter so cant relate to that. And we hardly had the sort of man/wife relationship youre talking about with a bloody newspaper.... a wee bit out of context.

Kelvin McEnzie (sp) spoke to Kenny Dalglish in the aftermath and asked Kenny how thngs could be put right. Kenny said "put We Lied on your front page", to which Kelvin said "We cant do that", so Kenny said "in which case I cant help you" and hung up.
Popular opinion is that this would go/would have gone some way to healing the wounds.
Their attempt at an apology of late was a thinly veiled swipe at Mirror group for printing the feelings of people on Merseyside and the fact it was that, and not an apology also hurt. It would have been better to say nothing.

ok, i get the fact that the topic may be very close to your heart and that it still provokes an intense emotional response in you, we all have our 'don't even go there...' subject matters. and i'm genuinely sorry that you have been made to feel the way you do by a sickening and irresponsible decision made by a national newspaper.
but it was years ago, and i don't mean that in a 'time heals' cliched sense - just that publications can change in the same way that people can. i'm not saying categorically that the sun HAS changed, i don't read it regularly enough to be able to pass any informed comment on that particular matter, but what i am saying is that i for one believe that it's very much a positive thing that the paper should be forgiven. if we all were to stick by our judgments of people and things for life, we'd end up with a whole society that no longer spoke to one another because everyone everywhere at some time ****s up. forgiveness is key in getting over any pain. note, i'm talking about forgiving NOT forgetting. no one should forget the sun's appalling coverage of hillsborough, but i do think it's time the sun was allowed to exist without being defined by a mistake it made over a decade ago.
like the poster who used the issue of children whose lives have been permanently destroyed by bullying at school in order to condemn vic and jay, i'm a little curious as to why you would use something that is clearly so close to the bone to speak out against the contestant of a reality tv show. doesn't that serve to belittle your pain somewhat...?

The Sun did a terrible thing during that time, and imho did very little to try to rectify it.
If my family and loved ones had been villified in that way I doubt very much I would be able to forgive and forget. If you cannot have empathy for those in that situation, they say nothing at all. It is very very recent for most of those involved, with some ppl still suffering. For goodness sake have some sense of compassion.
