He was always my fave character in Coronation Street. I've really missed his presence alot in the last few years. There hasn't been a male character since he died that has filled the void he left imo.

I'd have loved to see Fred and Mary in scenes together.

I thought it was the actor's decision to leave - he wanted to spend more time with his family etc. And he died, instead of being killed!

All true but I still dont think it was necessary to kill the character off, Fred could have just jilted Audrey at the altar and left. ANYTHING but burn all bridges for him to return.

I agree that his death scene was a joke, it took place off-screen in Audrey's hallway- ridiculous. I loved Fred as a character, especially when he had Mike Baldwin as a sparring partner.

This was around the time I stopped watching Corrie. Fred Elliot was an absolute legend and one of my Corrie favourites. When they killed him off (and off screen), I was furious and gave up with the show.

I was very fond of Fred. They should have let him marry Bev and go off wherever it was they were going, let him bellow down the phone at Ashley now and again even if he didn't want to do guest appearances.

Fred was a wonderful character, probably my favourite male character ever. He deserved a happy ending.

I used to like the names of the organisations he belonged to - "The Offal Traders Association" for example; I said, "The Offal Traders Association".

I loved Fred and was sad to see him go. A wonderful over-the-top character who you would love to have in your Local of an evening, waxing lyrical about th'old days, scotch and "threat" in hand.

I say a scotch and "threat - Ahhh the lovely Fred.

I remember him and his Thai bride story - Orchid - our kid (God bless Kirk). Truly Hilarious.
