Does my cat have worms?

My cat is wormed regularly, every year with his cat flu jabs but yesterday and today I noticed little white strands when he lifts his tail. His next worming is due in June.

He doesn't seem particularly unwell, is always hungry so thats really not a great indication but before I ring the vet and make an appointment, which is probably gonna cost me £60/£70 for the consultation just thought I'd ask on here first as this always seems a good place to get great advice.

Those little white strands , do they look like dried rice? If so then thats usually a tape worm which is harder to get rid of than normal worms....I'd check with the vet.

Yes they do. I'll take him to the vet but I've just checked online and it says its normally caused by fleas and I regularly treat my cat (1st of each month) with Frontline. Still best to get it checked out.

you should be worming your cat at least every 3 months, and in addition, EVERY time your cat shows signs of fleas as the fleas carry tapeworm. A good quality wormer will clear it, and there'll be no need to go to the vet. Constant hunger is a sign of worms, so your cat is probably telling you that he's got them!

You should be able too buy a wormer from the vets without taking you cat in. I use milebermax which is realy good. I have one that has too be done ever month the others every 3 months. I also deflea them ever 8 wks or so. In the warmer months they get deflead ever 5-6wks though.
