just noticed Ladytron have got a Best of.. compilation coming out soon.

Though I just looked at the price on Amazon and for the standard edition they want £38!! WTF is all that about. Guess I'll have to get an import.

anyhow just wondered if there were any more Ladytron fans on here?

Witching Hour is a brilliant album by them, same goes for Velocifero. A brilliant group that have knocked out some great tunes over the years, makes me wish they got more recognition

£38 for their best of? That is mad. You're probably better off buying their other albums in that case

Love them. Witching Hour still gets regular spins on my computer. Their other albums are a little inconsistent imo, but they all have some fantastic songs on them. I'm thinking of buying the Best Of for that reason.

I doubt that Amazon price is right - I've seen a few on there with those sort of prices, and they are usually imports, which is probably the case here as it's not released until the end of March. I'm gonna wait until closer to the release date.

my bad (as they say), amazon have got the standard ed. for £13.49 and £18 for the deluxe ed. I guess the price I saw was from an independent seller.

here's the link by the way -

been playing 604 a lot recently, forgotten that there were some great tracks on there, especially Mu-tron and Playgirl. Not sure what my favourite album is though, probably Light and Magic.

love the new track Ace of Hz.

I really like Destroy Everything You Touch and have been meaning to listen to them more - for the past 4 years - but I never got around to this. I might get this album as an introduction to them.

I've loved Ladytron since I first heard Seventeen. I can't believe they're still not well known especially when you look at all the crap that's in the charts.

Just be thankful that they haven't - or I don't believe they have? - altered their style to suit the chart buying audience!

it is really odd how chart success has eluded them but as CQ said, maybe that's a blessing, allowing them to persue their own path without the pressures of having to conform to current trends.

I think they're based in the US now, where they're much more appreciated than they are back home in the UK.

They are one of the many commercially-unsuccessful bands who could probably of had such success if promoted in the right way, but perhaps more with an indie audience - particularly with Witching Hour. A lot of it is just down to luck.

But Ladytron have been very successful in their own right - they are quite well acclaimed amongst critics, and they've toured Europe and America, so they do quite well for themselves.

But yes it's probably a good thing that their lack of chart success means they are never under pressure to make music which will sell well.

They are already working on their 5th studio album

For price reference, here are both versions of the 'Best Of', available for pre-order on iTunes:

http://itunes.apple.com/gb/preorder/...10/id411523323
http://itunes.apple.com/gb/preorder/...xe/id411554504

The deluxe version contains a second full disc of songs from their 4 albums.

Looking at the deluxe tracklisting, I'm thinking of getting that version, despite the hefty price. Most of the extra songs on it are real gems which I would miss having if I got the normal version. Makes you realise how many excellent songs they've really had

That's definitely an advantage. I often say that when discussing music, sometimes popular doesn't always mean good.

Very true but how many bands have been dropped by their label because they haven't sold enough albums?

glad to hear they're starting work on a new album. I know it doesn't really apply these days but there was a time when a GH package signaled the wrapping up of a groups career, so I always get a bit nervous when I hear so and so is releasing a GH album.

Whilst we're on the subject of Ladytron, am I right in thinking one of the girls has a PhD in science and ones an ex-junkie? I'm sure I read that somewhere.

I've pre-ordered the deluxe version. Should get it in the post sometime this week

In other Ladytron news, their next album's title has been revealed as 'Gravity The Seducer', and the band hope to have it released by the end of this year

I love Ladytron. Brilliant band named after an awesome song. I don't understand why they haven't become huge. Witching Hour in particular is an excellent album.

It's not actually £38 That was just what the Amazon import price was stated as at the time this thread was started.

The standard version is around £9, and the deluxe version, which includes a 16-track second CD and an 80-page photo booklet, is £15, which seems a pretty good deal.

anyone got the best of album yet? I've gone for the remixed best of instead. Though I'm desperate to hear their version of Little Black Angel.
