scam phone calls
has anyone ever got a phone call which when answered it's an automated voice with an american accent that says "congratulations you have won a carribean cruise, press 9 to claim your prize".
what actually happens if you press '9'? I heard that it could result in premium rate calls being made from your phone without permission, but not sure if it's a myth? |

They used to begin with Hi I'm Stacey but the latest one didn't give a name but sounds exactly the same in every other way. |

Pressing 9 would merely tell the computer that made the call that you are a real person (i.e. not a fax machine, computer or answering machine) and so are worth calling again and again. |
