Virgin Mobile Internet
My internet on my Virgin Mobile sim card works very fast between 8 and 9 o'clock am - but any time after that then the internet is so slow that it takes more than 5 minutes per page!
I get 1GB internet in my package, so at first I thought it was my phone - but I've tried it in a varierty of phones now and they all have the same problem? A few friends have also said that they have problems with the internet on Virgin Mobile... Considering I pay for it, I'd rather find out on here if anyone has the same problem or knows of any solution to it instead of dealing with their terrible customer call line! If anyone could help me, then that would be great! Thanks |

Same problem for me on Virgin. I pay an extra £5 a month for 1GB and find that in the early morning it runs ok but if I try it after 5pm then its very slow, must be most busiest time when everyone is using it. My phone is a couple of years old now so dont know what it would be like on a newer model.

Supposedly pre-2010 Sims are only capable of up to 350kbps. Mine was 10-11 years old
and I've just today got a replacement one from Virgin. Sadly the 3G speeds do not seem any better . Looks like I may be porting over to 3, which at least gives around 1Mbps around here. If Virgin get their act together with T-Mobile/Orange integrated network things might improve in the future, but there doesn't seem to be any indication if/when this might happen .

Just to add a bit
Got this from the Virgin Media site:
"We’re part of the most powerful mobile network in the UK. We know how annoying it is when you’re cut off in the middle of a call. Luckily, our mobile customers enjoy coverage here, there and just about anywhere. We’ve always used the T-Mobile network, which covers over 99% of the UK population to provide our service. But from this summer, we’ll use the Everything Everywhere network (the company formed by Orange and T-Mobile). So in some areas where the coverage would otherwise dip, you’ll automatically be able to use either the T-Mobile or the Orange network at the same great Virgin Mobile rates. You're covered." So it looks like we may be better in the summer .

To be fair I think the Three, T-mobile and Orange stuff will produce seamless coverage and decent speeds. Particularly for Orange and T-mobile customers.
I'm sure they'll continue to invest, and of course 4G around the corner over the next couple of years too. |

I used to be with Virgin Mobile. The speeds are capped but to around 2Mbps (same as Web n Walk+)
I had my T-Mobile Web n Walk+ SIM and the T-Mobile SIM would get slightly quicker during periods of heavier network use so there does seem to be some priority. The 384Kbps cap was lifted about this time last year. |
