Do You Despise Alfie Moon/Shane Richie
Perhaps it's just me but really got to express how I detest both Alfie Moon and the actor that plays him.
I do not rate Shane as an actor at all. I cannot stand Alfie who I find at best irritating. Since his return hated the way he once entered the pub with a football and everyone was cheering which seemed unlikely, and when he was dancing to the piper on New Years Eve was just embarassing. Can't feel an ounce of sympathy for his predicament with Kat at the moment. Also just read an interview with Shane Richie. Bighead. |

I don't rate quite a few actors, but I can't say that I "despise" or "detest" any of them.

I detest him and I really hate the character. I hate how every episode is centred on him. Now don't get me wrong I love Kat but I've hated her pairing with Alfie. She's a Slater not a Moon. I loved Kat and Anthony together. I even loved Kat and Andy. But Alfie. And since his return everyone in the square seems to be in awe of him. B*llsh*t.

Shane Richie !!!
I;ve only seen Shane Richie on a programme about music--Remember The Lyrics!
He is detestable--when it's a youngish female--he hugs them & squeezes the bare arms! ![]() His whole attitude is utterly disgusting--does he think he's Gods gift to women? ![]() He never touches the male contestants-if he did I hope they would floor him! ![]() I honestly can't stand seeing him even tho' I love the Lyrics programme--- ![]() I think he should be 'Put in Order!' or taken from the show for someone who's normal.

Alfie is annoying yes, and Shane Richie pretty much just plays himself most of the time... but I don't despise him. |

I don't hate Alfie but I do dislike how he's been turned into some kind of Saint figure since his return. Yes, the character has always been a decent bloke, at heart but he's also a bit of a conman and I think a lot of people seem to have forgotten how terribly he treated Kat in the past (after the whole Andy Hunter debacle and then two-timing her for months with her own sister.)
The current writers certainly seem to have forgotten all of this (or assume we have) and reimagined Alfie as some kind of noble doormat. I hate how they are sacrificing Kat's character, turning her into the villain of their relationship, so they can wring more tears and sad faces out of "poor Alfie". I do actually quite like the character, honest. It's the writing that I have a problem with.

I think despise is a very strong word. I'm not the biggest Alfie/Shane fan going but I can take him in small doses. I like Alfie sometimes with Kat i.e. 2003 he was her man in the moon and them falling in love was lovely to watch. 2004/2005 was a big no for me Alfie-wise, there was only so much of his puppy dog eyes I could take when a) treating Kat like a piece of crap after Andy then wondering why she turned to drink and became a wreck and b) flicking between Mo and Kat. HOWEVER, in saying that, credit where credit's due I do think Shane's been great in the current storyline BUT yet again I hate the way it's been written so he looks like a saint and Kat a cheap slapper AGAIN. They were always the cheeky chapy and the tart with a heart not the mouthy slapper wife and the poor suffering husband Quote:

I don't despise him, but he gets on my nerves. Don't rate him much as an actor, either.

Love Alfie to bits. Have no opinion either way on SR - haven't really watched anything with him in as himself. Bit strong to say despise though

i've been a huge fan of him since 2003. when he left EE i went to see him in scrooge and my mum had organized for me to meet him backstage. we spent about 5-10 mins and at the end of the show he called out to me(it was for my birthday). i've seen him multiple times since then and every time he's always had so much time for me. at dont forget the lyrics he saw me in the audience and said hello. he then got his pa to send for me to see him. he's just really lovely and people think what they see of him on tv is what you get. its not at all. yes he does annoy me sometimes but its just the way he is. i think he's a great actor and can do emotional things really well. he's so much better onstage though |

Never liked Alfie...not that bothered about Shane (who plays himself, the OTT cheeky-chirpy-chappy in every role)...

"Despise" is maybe too strong a word, but I find the character extremely annoying. His cheeky chappie act is tiresome and totally unbelievable and he's not half as funny as he thinks he is either. Saying that, I didn't mind him too much during the serious, emotional scenes in the baby storyline but having him acting opposite Jessie Wallace just shows up Shane Richie's limitations imo.
