Personally, as a musician, though these people didn't have a contract at the end of the day she holds the copyright, even if she got it after she put the songs out there, so that should have held up in court really. JJ was wrong here.

Judge Judy needs to get a life and stop ruining other peoples.

(Even if it is staged.)

Its much more complicated than that. There are numerous copyrights operating in that scenario, she admitted herself that they contributed to the song writting process, which complicates the matter. In terms of the master tapes until she pays them in full, they own the copyright to the recording, in terms of the lyrics and so forth the position at law is far less clear.

Its impossible from the information in that video to say for certain who owns the copyright.

I started to watch this but I get so angry with the American Legal system in cases like this.

The song "Morning Dew" has been recorded by many artists since the 1960's and is usually acknowledged as being written by Tim Rose.

In fact it was written in 1962 by Bonnie Dobson. A few years later Rose heard the song and recorded it himself and added his name as a co-writer.

It was challenged but thanks to the US Legal system this was allowed to stand and Rose's estate (he died in 2002) continue to receive royalties for a song he did not write.

The really awful thing is that I have seen recordings of this where Rose is credited as the only writer!
