I have only just got my Foxsat HDR so I'm still learning the ropes! I thought it had 2 tuners. I was recording 2 simultaneous programmes recently and I experimented by trying to change to another channel. On some channels I wasn't allowed to change (I was expecting some kind of warning message like my old Tivo used to do) but on others I managed to change to and watch a third channel. I could of course record the third.

How does this work then?

Ta.

The tuners each tune a transponder which handles more than one channel.

So if the channel you wist to watch is on one of the transponders that is tuned for recording you are in luck.

Thanks for that. So is there a list somewhere of which channels are grouped together like this?

Yes

If the two channels you are recording happen to share a transponder you can view and time shift any other channel because this requires only 1 tuner. (try instant recording 108 and 109)

If the two channels are from different transponders then you can view (but not time shift) any channel sharing a transponder with either recording.

If one of the recording pair is a BBC region then you can change the 3rd channel viewing options by switching the recording to a different region.

Thanks, Graham. You Excel spreadsheet app is very useful. I noticed that if you set up the 2 recordings, then on the brief list of channels on Humax HDR (when you press the select button) handily greys out the ones you can change to so the remaining "allowed" 3rd channels are highlighted.

Correct, additionally the channel up/down buttons cycles through the available channels.
