I have an HTC Desire HD on 3UK.

I've never really had any problems with the phone that haven't fixed themselves with a restart or whatever. However, I tried to access my texts and there was a force close error. I closed it and tried to access again, but it still wasn't working properly, so I restarted. When I restarted, all my texts had gone, bar one that was, for some reason, stored on my sim card.

I've googled this problem and it seems that it has happened to others, one site suggested downloading "handcent" from the market, and seeing if I could access the messages through that. (I can't.)

Has anyone else had this problem, was there a solution?

I haven't lost anything important (that I can think of) with these messages being deleted, but it's not something I would have chosen to do and its really annoying that they've just disappeared like this.
