blocking number on nokia c7
phonefax
06-02-2011
My daughter has had a new nokia c7.She had been having lots of nuisance calls on her old mobile so we bought her a new one to strat her off with a new number.Unfortunately some idiot so called friend must have given her new number to some ******** who is now calling her but withholding the number.
I have tried all day today to find any information on dealing with this situation, it's freaking her out and she is so frightened.
I have told her not to answer any calls that display private number but that hasn't really reassured her much.
I have tried to find the number blocking facility on the c7 just in case there is anything there but I cant even find wher to find the number blocking area.
Thanks

Note down the exact time and date every time the nuisance caller rings, then call the service provider and ask to speak to someone about nuisance calls. Give them the information you've logged and they should be able to trace who it is. Then ask the service provider to block all calls from that number.

Unfortunately, if the person involved is very persistent, they'll just call from another number. At that point you'd need to decide whether to take action if the calls are actually threatening rather than just annoying.

Whilst you should make an accurate record of the calls and pass to your networks nuisance calls bureau, they aren't able to block calls. If it's serious the police will be involved and action will be taken against the caller. To block calls you simply need call filtering app from the Ovi store.

Call filtering app will block all anonymous calls though, and some calls you might want could also be anonymous numbers (banks, some companies etc).

Why the hell do people persist in giving advice like that?

Read this bit very carefully: THE NETWORKS DO NOT BLOCK CALLS!!

And what's your alternative? As I said in my post, networks are unable to block numbers as you claim. Following the procedure I listed is the best way.
You should know that companies are not allowed to hide their number, they are required to show a valid caller ID or can be fined by the regulator.

My doctor's surgery withholds its number, as does the hospital. I've missed many a call on my old N95 after using Best Blacklister to block withheld numbers.
