How long for GSD puppy to stop play biting?
Ponglie

She's 13 weeks old and is still in the biting stage...we've had her around 3/4 weeks and we're trying to discourage the biting so it doesn't turn into agressive biting and her little baby teeth are so sharp it's quite painful when she bites.

We're using an indoor training lead and she has a puppy crate. We're also using the timeout in another room technique but nothing we're trying seems to be calming her down. She has lots of toys to chew and a puppy knog and we encourage her to chew them as much as possible.

Will she grow out of it? Anyone have any other tips please?

When she does it squeal like it hurts and walk away stopping any game that was being played.

Should take 3 or 4 goes and she will get it. Well that is what happens with terriers, chihuahuas, retrievers and corgis so I would guess a GSD will get it just as fast.

At 13 weeks squealing will probably excite her more, it really only works til about 10 weeks. She will grow out of it, you've probably got another few weeks before then though so just keep folding your arms and ignoring til she stops trying to chew, then play again and ignore every time she bites after that. Redirect her mouth onto a toy instead of your hand. She'll soon get the message. I've never found timeout helps for play biting.

It's part of having a puppy and she will grow out of it if you're consistent.
