Crumpets
Why do the buggers take so long to brown? Put some under the grill and it must have taken a good 8 mins to be ready (and there's nothing wrong with my grill)

Add a slice of ham, a poached egg on top & a dollop of hollandaise sauce.
Slurp. Crumpet Eggs Benedict. |

I don't like them brown, I like them just warm. My OH thinks that's horrible but he likes them with marmite on! Sweet only for me

I don't think crumpets are as good as they used to be. I remember them much more springy with more depth and less doughy than they are now.

I cook mine under the grill.
One side only - the side with the holes ! Plenty of butter, so it drips through onto the plate with a gentle squeeze ![]() Oh yes - and a lovely hot mug of tea ! Sometimes I might have some golden syrup on them. Depends on my mood !! |
