The heart signing was just an epic bromance moment
The Danny/Steve relationship is my favourite thing about the show The murder of the fisherman was just an aside to what was going on with Chin & Kono and their scenes together were very emotional.I like the fact that Kono always supports Chin 100%. So Steve got another package delivered to him.Interesting and I wonder who is behind that.Wo Fat or someone else? |

Bit of a filler episode tonight to explain what happened with Chin and the money he's supposed to have stolen.
Main case did fall in to the boys laps...but it was still a good one, and Danno and Chin....jumping on the Boat. ![]() Steve; even a broken arm doesn't stop him. ![]() Was it just me, or was Kono, extra Hot this week. ![]() And the Chin/Kono Family 'Business', was an interest, side issue. I don't know why that episode didn't hold my interest!
![]() ![]() ![]() I loved the beginning and the bromance moment, but after that it didn't really hold my interest. For the first time ever, I was on twitter at the same time as watching it. ![]() I find Chin's quiet dignity in all things really moving. Still the best thing on tv for me though. ![]() Oh, btw, I missed it but what was written on Steve's cast? Loved him and Danny arguing over signing it, that was hilarious!

Ali-F, that's sort of what I was trying to say earlier. Maybe I was wrong to call it "filler", but I did feel that they trotted through the murder case a bit too quickly and neatly.
I like the relationships in the team, both Chin/Kono and Steve/Danno, and the way they have each other's backs, but although those bits were great, everything else felt a bit rushed somehow ![]() And the short conversation about the package Steve got? Danny's seeming not to want to go too deeply into it doesn't fit with how he usually is, and that bit made me feel like the writers may as well have planted a big sign on screen saying "Don't worry, we haven't forgotten about Steve's parents' murder"! Like you, I love the show - the good outweighs the bad. Once I get into a series though, I can be a bit geekish about watching the way writers develop characters and storylines, so I should say here and now, I'm sorry for waffling on at times! |

I would have classed this as a filler episode as I saw the episode when I was in the US in April and as I watched it I didn’t feel like I’d spoilered myself as there wasn’t much of the running storyline in it

Yeah, I'd class last night's episode as a filler, too.I'm sure the rest of episodes will have more meat to the stories as the first season comes to a end.I can't wait to get the DVD when it's released later in the year
![]() Here's a screen cap of Steve's cast: http://www.caps.swannees-place.com/H.../01X20_603.jpg It says 'Wailoa Shaved Ice.Best on the island'

How did the fish scales get on the mans wound and the bullet end up in the fish and how did rutherford get the carpet over the trapdoor to the cellar. The main story was poor but the backstory with Chin and Kono very good but the whole series does have the feel of a tourist promotion although we do see some of the slums that never featured in the original series.

![]() However, I'm interested to see Daniel Dae Kim in it, so I think I might treat myself to the DVDs. I reckon that heart moment was an unscripted gesture of defiance, you know, because they haven't been given any of their car argument scenes for a while

i thought this too. If it was his son under there you'd know Rutherford Snr put the carpet back over. But how did he put it over himself. Plus why was he down there anyways ![]() Still enjoying the season though. But i'd rather have less episodes than filler eps like this. Spoils the flow of the main series storyline. |

I think there will probably be less fillers in future series.
For the first one though, there's probably a lot of backstory to the team members that we need to know about as the show goes forward, I'm guessing. |

I’m wondering if getting Chin’s background this week somehow leads to the big season finale. It obviously involves one of the four of them so maybe this week sets us up nicely.
I think that the finale is going to tie together Steve's dad's murder and the missing money that was put back when they stole it to save Chin's life. I also think it's all to do wth Wo Fat. But I also think Chin's reputation will be cleared before the end of the series. ![]() I don't know though and I don't want to know, I know the finale has already aired in the US but I don't want to spoil it ahead of time which is unheard of for me, I always read the last page of a long back to find out the end before I read the book. ![]() ![]() My embarassing confession, I prefer hawaii 5-0 to Lost and Heroes put together I only watched the first episode of Lost and the first series and a half of Heroes. I might have to go back and watch Lost though as I have just discovered Ian Somerhalder and Vampire Diaries and dear God, is that man hot! ![]() ![]() Hawaii 5-0 and Blue Bloods have been my favourite shows by a huge margin this year, along with Sherlock.

It's actually 'Shave Ice' , sorry to be pedantic
Y'know, I squinted at the cast for ages and I wasn't sure if there was a 'd' or not I may have been distracted by Alex O'Loughlin's hotness

I may have been distracted by Alex O'Loughlin's hotness ![]() Perfectly understandable! ![]() ![]() and I don't know why it took me so long to discover Ian Somerhalder I hang my head in . In my defence though, I never saw Lost and I don't generally like Vampire things, can't stand all that brooding intensity unrequited love, brings me out in a rash thinking about Twilight, but Damon's a brilliant vampire, all naughty, funny and menacing all at the same time and boy, has he got a body and some dance moves! ![]() Bonus is he also seems to spend more time with his shirt off than Alex O'Loughlin, Hawaii 5-0 could learn from VD, find any excuse to shoehorn the men with their shirt off! Who cares about plot? ![]()

yeah the fish stuff was all too easy.
"I have a friend at the university who know all about fish" "They're really rare magical fish" "only one place bought them" "Oh look - evidence". Now on to my pet peeve for the most recent episode: Grace Park's (Kono) acting seemed very stilted in one scene. It was the one where she had to tell James Kyson-Lee (Sean) about the death of his father. I found it quite cringe worthy. I'm not sure though if it was due to the music or setting, but it really seemed 'off'. |

My take on Grace Park's Kono is that she's still a rookie when all said and done and in her scene with James Kyson-Lee I saw hesitation, and a little fear, on her face.Kono probably hasn't had many instances where she had to inform a family member of a loved one's death and that's what I took from the scene.I didn' think it was cringe worthy at all.

I don't know what the filming schedule is like for a series like this - there are a lot of episodes so maybe it's pretty intense and the actors have the odd off moments due to tiredness or whatever, and don't have time to re-do the scene if it's a bit off? |

That's a good point. Actually, I think the scene in the car with Chin, when she was crying was quite well acted, although someone else mentioned last week that they thought her acting was bad in one scene she did.

It was me in the scene in the smashed up hotel room with Chin, but I also found the scene where her and Danny were outside the strip club sending the fake email pretty whiffy too. . It's like she can't walk and act at the same time. She's quite good when she's stood in front of the computer screen or sat in the car with one of the guys but she's very vacant in general as an actor. Chin isn't over-emotional either, but because Daniel's such a good actor, you feel like there's so much more going on behind his eyes and I find him much more believable.I appreciate she's there as eye candy for the guys and it's not all the time, but she acts like a singer who keeps giving the occasional flat note that makes you wince. It didn't bother me as much this week because I was tweeting at the same time, so I wasn't watching her. ![]() ![]() The funny thing is I don't actually dislike her as an actor, I think there's something quite sweet and warm about her, I just want her to be a tad more believable. She's ok at the unemotional or the very emotional, it's the stuff in the middle that's a bit iffy and she definitely needs to be able to walk and talk at the same time, it's almost like she's not sure of her lines.
