I wondered why that scene made no sense to me last night, so thanks for that!

I have no problem with Steve taking the "boss" role as I think he's really hot, so the more time he's on screen the better. But I do think that Danny and Steve together brings far more of a sparkle and they bounce of each other.

I have a real problem with Chin's motivation in this storyline. I understood why he would take the blame while his aunt was so ill, but why would you continue to lie when the real culprit, his uncle, came forward to tell the truth.

His uncle's reputation just doesn't hold up, he did something wrong, he deserves to take the consequences. Chin's actions aren't noble or heroic, there just plain stupid, if he was saving someone's life, fair enough, but he's just saving the pension of a man who stole a lot of money. And then he's going to lose his house in the aftermath as he gave his deed over to the bookie, that's just too much of a sacrifice to make for not much of a good reason.

And I do wish they'd stop the explaining everything to each other in order to explain it to the audience, we get it, we don't need it spoon-fed so bleeding obviously. Seriously, it's like a massive alarm going off "ding-ding-ding-ding" massive plot explanation for the idiots amongst you!

Still love the show though!

The scene didn't make any sense, I don't understand why Sky1 edited it out and it makes me wonder if they've been editing out other stuff but we haven't noticed.

I agree, Chin is acting stupid. He can't honestly think that going to that bookie is a good idea. I can't see it ending well for him at all. Besides he's spent all this time trying to convince everyone in HPD that he didn't steal the money and now he's just gonna turn around and say that he did anyway. The show plays the "family is everything" card a lot so I think that's why he did it. But what's honourable about people thinking you're a liar and a thief? Especially after spending so much time trying to prove your innocence.

The only thing that made sense about that was that his uncle had put loads of bad guys in jail and if they investigated his uncle some of those cases might come under scrutiny.

I think him telling them he still had the money was a really bad idea.

I still love the show though! It's just fun, not something we should be thinking about too much.

Just Tracy - I wonder if Sky 1 cut that scene simply to fit in their required number of ads? Now you've pointed it out, I reckon it's definitely not the first time they've done it. Some of the banter scenes lately have seemed like Steve has had no comeback, but his reply has probably just been cut!

I don't have a problem with him being on screen. It's just that while his badass methods have rubbed off a little on the others, he's still treating them as though he's commanding his men in his Navy team.
In reality, they're experienced cops who have given someone from outside their trade, their loyalty and backing, so I'd expect after being in their environment this long, that he would have evolved enough to take on some of their ways and have respect for their knowledge.
Instead, he explains things to them as though they're new
recruits.
It's not his fault really - I suspect a lot of it comes back to the
writers feeling we need everything explained to us.
As Just Tracy says though, it's not really something that's meant to be taken too seriously!

The only thing I can think of is that they cut it for time reasons but it was only about 10-20 seconds and if they needed 10-20 seconds so badly surely there was a random bit of scenery they could have got rid of instead of cutting out actual dialogue. I'm wondering what else they might have cut now.

I was gonna e-mail them about it but couldn't find any contact information on their website - I ended up leaving a message on their facebook wall instead. I know it probably sounds really petty complaining about 10-20 seconds but those scenes were meant to be there and I want to know why Sky thought they could just get rid of them.

I like that, I think it makes the dynamic very different from a normal police team. He doesn't get bogged down in red tape and police procedures and so his team have less of that too. It can take the story to ridiculous places some times but that's why I think I have such great affection for it. It's like Tom and Jerry with real people! And hot people too!

I'll take the bad because when it's good, it's the best thing on tv for me at the moment.

The guy with the little girl was Kawika, who was a bad-ish kind of guy in earlier episodes. I was confused how they became 'brahs' for lack of a better word.

Regarding that scene you all talked about being cut. Was there 'two versions' of it? Meaning, one played on SKy 1 and another somewhere else? Or did you see the full version "online somewhere"?

Was the banter confusing or was it confusing why they cut the last few phrases? Kawika refers to Danno as "Jersey" because he's from New Jersey. Do you think it was cut as to not have any confusion with the UK Jersey?

Anyway, I think the violence is over the top to be honest and Honolulu is hardly that violent, but it's fun to watch and I like seeing the violence to a point as it's almost comical. I loved the episode early on when they find someone being cooked alive in a luau pit. I tell you though, I would not eat Kalua pig & cabbage all week due to that scene...

totally agree. It's one thing to lose your job over a suspicion, quite another to get involved with an illegal money lender and confess. So he's going to lose his house, his job and go to jail. Just to keep his uncle out of jail.
They're going to drag this out aren't they. I hope they resolve it soon.

so now it's going to be Chin's (and maybe 5-0's) convictions that will be reviewed instead.

Regarding the edited scene, I doubt Sky did it, to trim 10 seconds off the programme length just wouldn’t be worth it for them. I suspect what we saw was the syndicated version of the episode which (for reasons we’ll probably never know) was different to the US broadcast version. It’s common that the syndicated version of programmes differ from the original broadcast version, it’s also common that it’s the syndicated version that’s gets sold internationally.

With 2 episodes left, I very much suspect that the Chin situation is going to be the end-of-season cliffhanger

It was the banter that was confusing, the scene didn't make any sense. The girl and guy walk up to Danno and Steve, say two sentences and then walked away. There was no point to the scene because there was no banter, it didn't make the plot move on and it didn't explain anything from earlier.

They've explained about Danny being from New Jersey earlier in the series and that's why they call him Jersey, so they can't have cut it for that reason.

I thought as I was watching it that it was something that could be misinterpreted with the little girl as she wasn't with her parents, but it doesn't sound like it from Tracy's explanation, so I'm really

I can't remember which episode it was now but either last week or the one before, Danny made a smartass comment to Steve and when the camera moved to Steve, instead of coming back with something, it looked like he just opened and closed his mouth, almost like a sigh.
At the time, I thought Alex hadn't played along with the ad lib, but I'm sure now that his reply was cut, and it has probably happened in other eps,too - maybe they think European audiences won't get all the banter?

I watched the episode on Sky1 and honestly didn't notice the edit but then I was reading fan recaps from when it aired in the US and they were talking the scene and I wondered why I didn't notice it. My brother downloads so I checked his US aired version.

I can't think of a reason why they (either Sky1 or the syndication people) would edit the scene out as there was nothing in the scene that was inappropriate. Apart from timing reason and that doesn't really make sense either.

Great stuff. It's doing well then on Sky 1.

Did anyone think last Sunday's episode "Close to Heart" was the season finale, based on the out-dated listings information given (22nd episode of 22, instead of 22nd episode of 24)? Looking forward to the last two episodes. Sunday's episode seemed like a standard episode, but got better towards the end, and in hindsight was better than some of the so-so episodes earlier in the season.

Unless you kept track of the episodes as they premiered in the US on CBS (checking the episode list on episode guide websites).

No offence but that last post should have been classified as a SPOILER, as i have just read the page and it tells key info about the season finale

Is it me or are the product placements getting more brazen? We've had the Nokia and the Bing thing. Then the lingering shot of the Hawaiian Airlines plane touching down and now this week and the bit in the red Chevy with the hands-free and iPhone connectivity.

I know they pay the bills, but c'mon!

I noticed the Bing thing (I thought it was odd that they didn't say "I'll google it" does anyone even say "I'll bing it"?) and the iPhone ones are obvious but the most obvious one is Hilton Hotels. I've lost count how many times the Hilton logo has been shown or where the dialogue mentions something about "going to the Hilton" when in reality you might just say "hotel".

I suppose they've gotta make their money somehow. Honestly though the product placement thing doesn't really bother me. I have been trying to figure out what phone Danny uses though - in 1x20 it definitely wasn't an iPhone.

Poor episode this week....with the Dirty Bomb, and the Secretary.....very silly.

But Kono hitting the Guy with the Dustbin Lid...

Nice to see Rachel back too, but was Steve Jealous.
