I loved the tension in this episode My heart was going like the clappers and I thought the entire cast was superb.There are a lot of questions to be answered and I'm going to be counting the days until Season 2 starts in September.I'm dying to find out just how Danny can get Steve & Kono out of prison and how they're going to find Wo Fat.I can't wait

I watched this at US pace, but have kept an eye on this thread to see what those of you who didn't thought of this show. Over the past few weeks the comments of filler episodes or dissapointed, crept in. However, once you've seen the tonights season finale, I hope you'll see how they tied up or brought together everything from some of the lesser shows into the big story arc. I thought this episode was excellent when I watched it, and by the few reactions already it seems like the majority in here will do so as well.

I don't think they will get Wo Fat - yet.
Danny and Chin will get Steve and Kono out and the team will be put together again, imo, but I think Wo Fat will elude them and the quest to bring him to justice will be a running thread - it'll also be the reason Danny stays in Hawaii.
Oh - and I'm convinced Jenna is a bit suspect
Good finale on the whole.

Good episode, spoiled (for me) only by a couple of "cliché scenes"

It was obvious that the car was going to blow up, just from the way the scene was shot (how many times have we seen that in various shows). A better way would have to have kept focus on the Governor talking to her staff and heading for her own car, while, way in the background, we would see what's-her-face getting into her car and it blowing up.

Also, it was obvious that Danno's missus was going to get pregnant and that he wasn't going to meet them at the airport.

Not sure how they will resolve that, as if he stays in Hawaii and she stays in New Jersey, it will kind of negate the whole "devoted father" image that he has had throughout the series (as he said in this episode, the only reason he moved to Hawaii was to be near his daughter).

On the other hand, if they decide to bring his family back to Hawaii, we will have to put up with lots of "romantic" scenes next series.:yawn:

Glad I'm not the only one who saw the car blowing up coming. Why else would the camera follow a relatively minor recurring character through the otherwise mundane process of walking to her car, getting in and turning the ignition key?

I've been watching this series at US pace for the last few weeks as I couldn't wait. I really enjoyed the whole series, especially the finale. I like particularly like the story arcs, the banter and the developing relationships between the characters.
I have a bad feeling about Jenna. She gave Steve the envelope with the key, perhaps it wasn't the same key that was stolen but was part of a setup. She had access to an addressed envelope. She also knew about Dale being due to testify. I think the governor became mixed up with Wo Fat but was not as implicated as Steve thinks. Hope we get series 2 in September.

Yeah - it would make no sense that he's been living out of a suitcase in a grotty apartment, because he needs to be as near as possible to Grace, and now Rachel has decided to
take her off to New Jersey again (selfish cow), and
he's going to stay in Hawaii and not see her at all?


Either the search for Wo Fat will be ongoing and Danny won't bail out on Steve until he's caught,( in which case it'll be interesting to see how being separated from his daughter will impact on his personality), or Rachel will be killed off - which doesn't look likely now she's left Hawaii.


As for Jenna - too much about her seems off, and she's worked her way into the team too quickly, imo....could just be a bit of sloppiness in the writing, of course!
But it'll be interesting if it turns out she's a mole.

I really enjoyed last night's episode, but I just don't like Jenna.The way she delivers her lines reminds me of Velma Dinkley. I keep waiting for Scooby and the rest of the gang to turn up!

Chin has gone back to HPD though. Unless it's a swerve, I don't think he'll be back in the team immediately. But I do agree that Danny will pull something out of the bag to get Steve and Kono out.

I suppose The Mentalist proves that they don't have to resolve the Wo Fat storyline any time soon so, like Red John, he'll probably be around for a while.

I think Chin saw going back to HPD as his best way of helping Steve - he saw what was happening and thought he could do more from inside the force?

Well Danny and Steve will think Chin has betraded them going back to HPD because he did not tell anyone he was going to do that. So Danny will be upset with arresting steve and not letting him go. So in season 2 Chin will have to get their trust back. I hope Danny finds steves phone that was recording what the govener was saying.

I think Wo Fat has got to Rachel to get danny out of the way so he could set steve up plus I do not think she is pregnant, or its not Dannys but Stans baby or she could lose the baby, she might not have got on the plan anyway danny will be stay in Hawaii.

Yes, I'm sure Chin is trying to help Steve from the inside. Before he left he said something like 'I'm not going to sit here and do nothing'. I loved all of Kamekona's guns in the truck! People on a US site have talked about there being no gunshot residue on Steve's glove so that will help him. Also the phone recording usually has to have a confirmation to delete which did not happen. I don't think that the governor had Laura killed though, I think she was unaware Wo Fat was doing it. Perhaps Laura stood up to him while the governor was possibly being blackmailed and went along with it. She just said Laura was being killed for being disloyal - to Wo Fat rather than her?

Pick the bones out of that final episode.

Have loved this show since it started and the ending was great. looking forward to season 2. One thing that will help him get off is the fact that steve was knocked out with the stun gun. surely there will be marks on his neck to prove it?

I hope the whole cliffhanger with Steve & Kono arrested etc isn't solved within the first episode of season 2. I hate it when they do that.

I hope its a major plot strand for a few episodes. Maybe's having an actual court case for Steve. Or even fast forwarding 6 months. Rachel moving back to Haiwaii FOR Dano while he tries & prove Steve is innocent - Meanwhile Steve's been sentanced to a prison sentence or the death penalty.

Steve inside prison with all those people he's sent there would be brilliant.

Meanwhile i think Chin wasn't telling the five-0 everything. He's gone back to HPD for a reason.

I didn't really have that many high hopes for this reboot - but it hit the ground running and was enjoyable throughout - can't even think of an epidode where I thought "well that wasn't that good" because there weren't any bad episodes. The whole think hitches on the "Buddy Cop" theme and these two are brilliant at it. I really thought it was more like Starsky and Hutch than Hawaii 5 O but that's not a bad thing - of course the locations were fantastic - I did chuckle at Daniel Dae Kim running through a very familiar looking jungle. The running plot was very good too and the way they brought it all together was expertly done. Yes, I too can't wait to see how they resolve the various cliffhangers.


Also - Mark Dascoscos (he of the low budget chop socky laughable 80's films) - who thought he would play such an intriguing villain?

I can only see him as the very camp Chairman in Iron Chef America!

Those who visit this thread regularly know how much I love this series but I was really underwhelmed by this episode. Maybe it was reading about how lots of people said it was an amazing explosive episode that brought all the strands together, but for me it was a bit like Chinese, amazing and filling at the time but 10 mins later you're hungry and unsatisfied.

It feels a bit like the writers wrote this as they went along, rather than had all the scripts finished before filming started, so it was like they got to the last episode and forgot that they had to try and tie up loose ends, so Danny goes from hardly speaking to Rachel to running back to New Jersey with her in 2 episodes.

Also, they took the whole Steve and his dad really slowly through the whole series to then suddenly solve a load of things in one episode that they hadn't been able to solve in the other 22 episodes.

I do think that Chin went back to HPD to keep Steve safe, especially after the guy who sold the Claymore to Wo Fat was shot. He obviously thinks there's a mole working for Wo Fat somewhere (I think it might be Jenna too ).

Things they need to do for the next series - stop getting them to explain every little thing to each other in order to explain it to the audience, we're not as stupid as you think we are, we get it!

Have more defined partnerships, most of us watch for the Steve/Danny banter and we don't like it as much when they're paired with Chin or Kono. The trouble is, I like Chin and Kono separately, but I don't think they particularly work as partners, especially as their cousins. But they really don't have much chemistry, not sexual chemistry, just friends/family chemistry imo.

Get a writer who can write for female characters, or employ better actresses. Kono is fine, even if she's not the best actress in the world (and most men think she looks great in a bikini ) but Jenna and Rachel are terrible, really wooden. I don't know if it's the actresses or the writing, but none of them are particularly well-rounded characters. Grace Park was good last night though when she was arrested, she looked genuinely frightened.

After all that moaning though, I am really, really looking forward to series 2!

^^^ I agree with you about the Danny/Rachel ending.
I think it maybe didn't work very well partly because, as I said last week, although it was clear from the start that he still loved her, she only gives you what's in the script, so it seems like her falling for him again has come out of the blue.
It also felt a little as though they were stuck for a cliffhanger ending to give Danny, and shoehorned this one in (would she really tell him in the blink of an eye that she's pregnant, and this time she's taking off with two of his kids, but he doesn't have to go with her, without even offering to hang on till he's free to move back? Given that he's already made so many sacrifices to be near Grace?) - at the moment, that part seems a bit lame, but maybe there's a bombshell to come.

I'd like to see them stick to their strengths next season, too - Steve and Danny have been a fantastic pairing and, imo, they should stick to that, and stop drafting in new characters to work with Steve, which often leaves one of the team floating about on the sidelines.
I do like Chin and Kono together, but I think Grace Park has maybe been a bit slower to develop her character than the other actors.
I hope we're right about Jenna being rogue, as I think as a character she's ok, but as a permanent team member she
doesn't fit - five's a crowd, imo.

I did think it delivered last night, though - really looking forward to season 2, and hope it's not too long a wait!!

Great finale to a surprisingly great series. When Steve went all Jack Bauer at the end it made me realise how much i've missed 24 this year though!
