I'm still finding myself only half watching - the writers seem to me to be really short of original ideas.
I did grin at the end, and still enjoy Steve and Danny's chemistry, and it seems that the "bromance" has been allowed to return this season after what felt like a definite attempt to shelve it a bit in season 2...I notice also that Kono has been more active of late, after seeming to be MIA at times last year.

It does feel as though they're relying on the characters to keep viewers hooked rather than investing in some real memorable plots, and I just don't think that will work forever.

I didn't think this story suited H50. At one point I thought I was watching Criminal Minds.

My husband kept commenting how the guy who runs the sushi bar got a costume to fit him.

Loved Steve's face at the end when Kath decided to watch the Notebook alongwith Danny sharing the popcorn.

Was really surprised to hear the song "Love Love Love" by New Zealand band Avalanche City playing at the end of the episode.

I could write something better in my sleep.
And yet you're not a writer on the show? Why not if you're that good?

Sorry, and nothing personal, but people who say this kind of thing just sound jealous or something.

Though I do agree it wasn't the best episode they've ever done

Oh dear. Is that the best you can do - play the old 'jellus' card?

Do you level the same accusations against TV and film critics who make similar observations on other shows/movies, or is your sarcasm reserved solely for people who express their opinions on this forum?

It was just a saying. OK???

Anyway, no. I'm not 'jellus'. Far from it. I can write and have written (although life has got in the way over the past few years), but have never been tempted to become a scriptwriter. It's a thankless task; but it shouldn't mean that they don't strive to do it to the best of their abilities.

This doesn't preclude me from criticising what the scriptwriters are doing, however (nor becoming infuriated with the way they have yet again perpetuated the myth that Paganism/Wiccan = Satanism).

Focusing solely on the relationships between the main characters is fine, but you need to have some substance in the plot to continue to draw in your audience. Not just the die-hard fans, but those who watch for entertainment. If the plot isn't there, is full of holes or is simply ridiculous, then you will eventually lose those people.

Then again, perhaps I'm expecting too much.

Just poking fun, but if you’re a writer then you should know how to spell 'jealous'.

That's why I enclosed it in quotation marks, 'cos it was the 'forum' way of spelling it.

(as in 'jellus hater' - referring to people on certain threads who express dislike of a celebrity's behaviour).

But I do know how to spell jealous. Honest Injun (there's another! I do know, of course, that this is Indian!).

Yes. I take absolutely no notice of anything any 'critic' says. I ialways make my own mind up.

It was just a saying. OK???
Sorry. I just take what people say at face value

I loved this episode. It was tense, dramatic, the whole team worked together superbly, the flashbacks to 9/11 were very hard to watch but, most of all, Scott Caan was just incredible. He put in a very powerful performance and I hope the whole cast get more episodes like this in future.

Danny named his daughter Grace after his partner back in Jersey

Loved how Steve wouldn't leave Danny's side.Steve was more emotional after the bomb was diffused than Danny was.Awww

First one this season that's held my attention all the way through!

The scenes where Danny and his partner were trapped in the warehouse were really intense.

The banter between the team at the beginning ( including Max) highlighted for me what a great cast of characters the show has - each team member is really likeable.

Scott Caan showed that he can really act when given something to get his teeth into.

And the last scene between Steve and Danny, where they said so much with their faces and the laughter, without actually saying anything much, was superb; those two guys have created a really believable on- screen bond.

Please, writers, give the cast more episodes like this to work with!!

Fantastic Episode best so far last night, but I have love all of this season so far.

Scott was very good last night.
The core 4 love the banter and chemistry between them
Storyline dealing with a major terrorist plot was good
very emotional scene at the end with Steve and Danny great acting, and Steve trying to keep Danny calm and focused why they defused the bomb.
Farther and daughter dance was cute at the end

In this episode we found out that

Danny named his daughter after his ex partner Grace
Danny had trouble back then driving his car.
Why Danny always whats backup now with Steve because what happened to his partner.

Actually when you put this whole season into context, it is the strongest yet. This weeks episode was great, but if every episode was this good, the whole show would run out of steam. Seasons need episodes like last weeks which while not furthering the story, just cement some ideas. If we hadn't finished with Danno and Steve cuddling on the sofa last week, would this weeks incredibly tense bomb section worked as well?
I also like that Steve's girlfriend while there, has not taken a major role, and like Max flicks in and out as required adding more depth to either the story as a whole or the characters of the main four. That said its horses for courses, while I like this approach, I'm well aware that there is a clamour for "more Max!".

I think you've made some great points there:
If every episode was like last night's then those final scenes wouldn't have had the impact that they did.
I also think there's "just enough" Max, who I think has been a
great addition to the team.
I do think Steve and Danny's bond is something the actors themselves have created for their characters, over and above
what the writers have done - the look on Steve's face, for
instance, as Danny walked off last night was so convincing a
portrayal of the understanding of, and appreciation for, his
friend, and I'm sure that's something he would have
improvised himself; there are lots of little touches like that
amongst the cast at various times - they've done a lot of work
to give us characters we care about...which is why I want it to be stronger in terms of it's storylines.
So while I wouldn't want the same intense drama as last night every week, I do wish they wouldn't keep returning to the same old stuff about Danny's domestics, and Steve's family's involvement with Wo Fat ( I'm really not enjoying his Mum as a regular character; she doesn't work for me and neither does his relationship with her)

I’d have to agree, probably the best episode of the season so far.

I’m glad the ratings have picked up in the US too. This, along with the fact a 4th season would make it a much more marketable syndication package for CBS to sell should mean a season 4 is definitely on the cards.

Steve mum is not a regular on the programe, Doris is a recurring character and for only 6 ep as far as I know. So she has 4 more ep to go.

It does feel like they are holding onto the Wo-Fat story just to keep it dangling, and not because they have any real plan for it. But I think part of the reason for that is the security of shows like this. If they were guarenteed Five seasons, then having it culminate with the Wo-Fat storyline makes sense. But if they cancelled they will probably have to bring that forward, so making the story-arc difficult to plan. That said it is positive news that Ratings have picked up, and as far as I know it is still one of Sky's top-rated shows.

Yes, in fact the ratings for this season appear to be higher than last season on average... the Sunday premier gets almost 1 million viewers on Sky One, making it consistantly in the top 5 programmes for the channel each week. It also usually gets 100,000+ on Sky1+1 on Sunday night. So if you add the two together along with the repeats during the week, each episode is seen by over a million viewers. So Sky will keep buying the rights for as long as those ratings continue.

Not bad considering they weren't interested in the programme originally and only ended up with it when they bought the Bravo channel and the programmes it had already aquired the rights to (of which Hawaii Five 0 was the most recent).

But the beating he got, he should have been out after the second Punch........and the Guy doing it, should have Broken his hand after the third Punch.

Great guest appearence from Terrence Howard too.
Catherine + Bikini.....More please.

And Max's voice is really getting on My Nerves now.

Yep, Danno now rivals Steve for indestructability (if that's a real word!)

And Catherine did look sickeningly good in a bikini

Hollywoods looking to cast a young Han Solo and Chewie...Think McGarrett and Danno (with some camera trickery) might fit the bill!!

That reminds me of McGarrett's comment about Danno's Chewbacca chest hair at the start of the episode!
