Some good news

Hawaii Five 0 will return to Sk1 with its fourth season on SATURDAY January 4th 2014 at 9pm.

And NCIS Los Angeles at 10pm.

Can not wait to see five0
Saturday? Really?

Hawaii Five O has provided Sky One with VERY good ratings on a Sunday night for 3 years now, why are they moving it?
Same goes for NCIS:LA, its been performing decently on Sunday nights for 2 years now (i think the first was on a weeknight), why move it???

I can't help but agree - Saturday has been a waste-ground for years since talent shows became resurgent. i'd double check.

Shame we are so far behind, with S04E09 airing last week in the USA :s

Saturday seems a bizarre day for any sort of drama really.

No doubt if challenged Sky would spout some nonsense about us 'not watching in conventional means anymore' and that the day broadcast does not matter thanks to PVRs/+1's/on-demand etc.

I just hope they don't get surprised at the low ratings and shove them in a graveyard slot.

Five0 can be on any day of the week and I would watch it. I am just very happy that we get to see it. My favourite program.

I actually quite like the way Sky air Hawaii Five O and NCIS:LA. Yes, its a bit of a wait for the season to start, but it means we get the entire season without any breaks and by the time the finale airs we are only a few weeks behind US pace (usually about 3 or 4 weeks i think)

I actually agree with the statement about viewers 'not watching in conventional means anymore', and i have no problem with it, as long as the broadcasters consider that when evaluating the programmes performance. It seems that too often broadcasters still only quote actual 'live' vieweing figures because thats where most of their money is still made.

Luckily Hawaii Five O has a successful past for Sky One, usually in its top 5 programmes of the week, so if there is a drop in viewers this yeat hopefully Sky will look at moving it back to Sunday rather then dumping it in a graveyard slot before dumping it altogether.

For season 1 and 2 I would agree - S3 was awful - so it needs to be very good, at the start of S4, for me to keep watching.

I'm assuming they've been moved because Sky are planning to insert some big shows in the Sunday night slots on some of its other channels, probably Atlantic or Living. We'll have to see when the post-New Year schedules come out.

Sky + box, and series link effects the same outcome, without sky holding back H5O, Grey's, Strikeback, Bones, Criminal Minds etc for the |new year - for the rest who would be quite happy to watch it.

Sky's holding back of Strikeback was bizarre, as it finished airing about a month ago on Cinemax in the US, was only 10 episodes long, and is a Sky co-production. Though Sky are up to date on Arrow. Find it a little odd FX are holding NCIS back, as they are up to date on The Walking Dead and True Blood.

Sky used to make a thing of "days after the US". Guess they have ditched that, despite the recent price hike.

It just encourages Internet P2P Piracy too.

Season four without revealing any spoilers is utterly dire so far in my humble opinion.

Spoiler

Just to say you are wrong on everything, do not believe everything you read on the internet because that is not happening. And just because you don't like the show other will.

I never said I hated the show but i stand by my opinion that season four has been utterly dire so far and the replacement is a boring airhead two bit actress with no talent, and as for the other part in the spoiler I think its fair to say it may be true as the actors character has been relegated to playing fourth fiddle behind the other three and I don't blame them for looking for change if it be the case.

Season four is very weak script wise also, too much personal nonsense, way too much bickering between the leads and going by demos it's doing rather badly in the states, it will be back for a fifth season but only because of syndication potential then it is axed.

While ‘the days after the US’ approach was welcomed by some, the ratings for the programmes actually decreased as it appeared most viewers didn’t like the occasional breaks in new episodes. So Sky ditched the approach and now, generally, broadcast programmes as close to the US air dates as they can while still being able to air the entire season in an uninterrupted run (like Blue Bloods), or two uninterrupted half seasons (like The Black List). Admittedly Hawaii Five-0 is held back slightly longer than necessary, presumably so they can start it in the new year and not a few weeks before Christmas.

It’s 4 seasons that a programme needs for syndication, so Hawaii Five-0 has now fulfilled that. As for a season 5, it’s very 50/50 based on the current ratings.

Actually the syndication has all ready begun in the USA they are repeating season 1 and 2 now. And the rating are very good for the evening they are on which is Friday. More people are watching live on season 4 than season 3 and CBS are very happy.

I was referring to the unwritten rule that 4 seasons make a very sell-able syndication package both in the US and around the world. So much so that if a programme gets to the 3 season mark a 4th season is almost inevitable, even if the 3rd season performs badly. The production company are usually quite happy to spend money on a 4th season that they expect to underperform because they know they’ll make up the financial loss by having a sell-able syndication package in the long run.

I’d say the ratings for Hawaii Five-0 this season are acceptable for a Friday night (but not for any other night). But you have to consider the productions costs too, Hawaii Five-0 is a relatively expensive programme to produce and gets beaten by a number of other programmes, even on a Friday night, which are a lot cheaper – such as ABC’s Shark Tank.

Personally I wouldn’t like to say either way about a 5th season just yet. I have a feeling CBS might look to add a cheaper to produce programme to their Friday night line up next year, meaning either Hawaii Five-0 or Blue Bloods will be cancelled.

Keeping it in a Sunday slot makes more sense. Shame it’s delayed a few weeks though.

I thought on CBS that their two Sunday dramas The Mentalist (now they have solved Red John) and The Good Wife are for the chop first as both have much lower audiences than H-5-0

Also H-5-0 is cheap to make as all the cast still on their original contracts whereas the others being older shows the cast will be looking for more money. Another plus is its a CBS produced show whereas The Mentalist is Sony so with H-5-0 they get to keep all the syndication money.
