It was awesome but the DNA test wasn't done in the car We'll have to wait for the results.I personally don't think there's any blood relationship between Steve & Wo Fat.That would be too easy.

I suspect that'll be the outcome of the DNA test - it won't be full brothers, but half brothers. Doris will have had an affair with Wo Fat's father I reckon.

And i'll repeat what i said .. more Michelle Borth and less Grace Park will do me

What an Amazing opening for season 4 just loved it.

I hope we don't have to wait all season to see if Steve and Wo Fat are brother. I really hope they are not.

Steve realising that he really loves Catherine when she was in trouble.
Liked seeing Chin going all badass and his shot gun.
Poor Danny his car got blown up. Wonder what kind of car they will have next week.
Loved all the banter and one liners between Steve and Danny.
Who likes Chi Mcbride as Captain Lou Grover I think we will see more of him. Steve and Grover don.t like each other,
Loved toast mending the computer.
Loved the action with the helicopter and the scenes after with the team.

It is so far removed from the original and glorifies in the violence and bloodfest, eg shooting through the shoulder, which is almost non-stop I wonder what audience this is aimed at. It has become a fantasy series without the sex say of Banshee or Spartacus.

McGarrett fires through the body of his prisoner already suffering blood loss. Uses other bodies as human shields and no bullets pass through them and hit him. Game of Thrones is more realistic. Chin must have an armoured plated dashboard and not plastic to survive a hail of bullets.

Maybe the writers took inspiration from real life when two small girls survived in a car under their parents body when the parents were murdered in the South of France and transferred it to a fully grown man.

You do realise that Hawaii Five-O isn't a documentary ?

I know that's being horribly facetious, but you're nit-picking to an absurd degree.

The violence is there to titillate the audience and serves no other purpose. It does not further the storyline. Taking the blood from WoFat was an example that was unnecessary as if they would not have a sample from his hospitalisation. Three were killed in the helicopter alone. I lost count of the rest.

I sort of agree with you about the violence, but the same could be said about almost any action drama on television right now. Personally I don’t mind it, if I watched an action drama with no violence in it I’d probably think it was rubbish these days. The original Hawaii Five 0 wouldn’t get viewers in this day and age, times have changed, and Hawaii Five O has too.

As for the first episode of season 4, I enjoyed it, there was certainly a lot going on, maybe a bit too much. But what about Danny’s car! I loved that car, and for me it was sort of part of the programme. Seeing it blown up reminded me of when Crockets Ferrari got blown up in an episode of Miami Vice, it was almost like a character was being killed off.

Off to watch the first episode of season 5 of NCIS:LA now…

I don't, personally, think the violence is too much - I find it too OTT to be taken seriously.
For me though, it's run out of steam; I don't care about Wo Fat anymore, or Danny's domestic problems, or Steve and Catherine's teenage romance ( I feel sure there's trouble ahead for it!)
Even the Steve/Danny banter felt forced in this episode to me; as though the actors are just going through the motions with it now.
It's clearly just me though, judging by the positive reviews on here ... Not watching isn't an option for me because my Son absolutely loves it and though it was a great episode

I do think you can get that way with some shows though. I felt like that at the end of the last season of NCIS - I'd watched it for 10 seasons but it had become such a chore to watch I ended up dropping it for Season 11. I suppose it's just personal taste really.

You lasted 2 seasons longer than me then!
I used to absolutely love that show but it got to the point when it seemed to just hit a wall for me, too.

Everything you're mentioned about not liking on the show is pretty much what I feel about the show I used to love it especially the Steve/Danny banter but even that's got so samey these days and sadly it's not enough to keep me watching the show

The original Hawaii 50 was nearly taken off the air because McGarret in the first 2/3 series shot and killed the villain at the end of nearly every episode. It was the reason the phrase book 'em Danno started to be used more and more and lasted 12 years.

Colombo and mystery movies detectives came out of the backlash against violence of series like T.H.E. Cat or Hawk which I'd love to see again.

T.H.E.Cat (Robert Logia) (Thomas Hewitt Edward Cat), music Lalo Shiffrin, was a tightrope walker cat burglar who was also a professional bodyguard. it only lasted one series and was effectively replaced by the lighter It takes a Thief (Robert Wagner).

Hawk (Burt Reynolds) as a New York detective lasted 17 episodes replaced when Reynold made Dan August for Quinn Martin productions.

Violence sells and is not new to television. Westerns disappeared in the late 60's and there were some very good ones like The High Chapperal but too many indians got killed each week.

Although enjoyable, it's gone a little 24. Perhaps it will fill in until 24 'London' is out later in the year

All laughable - the first episode of the new season, couldn't take any of it seriously, but it's been going this way for a while now.

I'll give it one more episode.

I just find it perfect Sunday evening entertainment, with this and NCIS:LA, both shows not taking themselves to seriously.

A good end to the week, before the normal stresses of everyday life on a Monday morning.
