Dont venture in this forum very often, so be kind! So my K800i suddenly stopped working, it won't swtich on at all. No signs of life except a small red solid light when the charger is plugged in. Any ideas anyone?

I've no experience with that particular phone, but it was first launched in 2006, which means it's a 5 year old phone. Most phones don't last that long, so it might be time for you to upgrade.

Got it 2008, so 3 years but I dont have the money or need to upgrade, plus it has a lot of photos and messages on it, that I would like back.

Battery may be kaput see if any friends have a similar phone with the same battery and try there's see if it springs back to life.

Googling the problem links to a lot of links suggesting to repair the erom. These are for a blinking red light rather than a static one but it's probably worth a go. I remember having the blinking red light problem myself and this did work for me too

Thanks for that, I did try it but to no avail. Completely dead! I too love my K800i so will try a different battery if I can get my hands on one. Wonder if an Orange shop (where I bought the phone) would be willing to try a battery for me.

Amazon have the batteries for £3.50 + £1.50 postage. Probably not a geniune Sony Ericsson one but could be worth a punt

I went through 3 K800i's but for me it was always the keys that went. I liked the camera but it was not the sturdiest of beasts. If you were saving photos to SD card then just remove and put it in a card reader and download. Really though if you value certtain photos make sure you have them backed up!

To rule out the battery (and maybe get the photos off the phone), have you tried connecting the phone to your PC, that should send power to the phone, and let your PC access the files on it.

I has this phone in 2007, and I must admit, it was a solid, well performing mobile.

The only thing that put me off it, was that this was the 2nd Sony Erricson in a row (previous K750i) that the dedicated side camera button failed to function. It wasn't a big deal as you could always take piccys using the central "joystick" type control, but it did put me off these phones as it happened twice on two separate handsets.

Yes, I would maybe try another battery - might be your best bet. As someone else points out, if you've been taking piccys on the memory card it's worth backing this up on a pc (I always did this)

Yep , I agree it looks like the battery. I did have a W375 with same problem , Only a static Red light, Then replaced the battery and it sprung back to life.

Hope this helps, Alex
