I know others have had difficulty with HDMI - which was meant to be fixed in this release.

I haven't suffered any problems - until now. This latest firmware doesn't work well with my Sony KDL 40X3500. When I switch to the HDR T2 it often just shows a black screen with just sound. The remedy is to turn the TV off then on again. Pretty c**p really.

Anyone else having similar issues?

yes, with the latest realase (with the Portal) HDMI is broken again for me using a Yamaha AV amp. Before that it worked quite well.

Does it happen every time for you or just once in a while?

I think I might be having this problem but not sure if it's the TV. It's only happened twice, I think, since upgrading and I've been able to sort it by switching the TV to a non-HDMI input and back again. Panasonic TX32LXD70 (HDR connected to HDMI1, WDTV connected to HDMI2).

for me it happens everytime now. same as it was before firmware 1.01.09.

I have the HDR connected directly to the TV with a pretty expensive cable from QED. Never happened before.

The TV is Panasonic TX-P42V20B and it never had the issue before.

Now, black screen with sound. If i put everything into standby and then start up again, it seems to be working OK which is strange.

This needs to be fixed ASAP.

It's broken for me too now, just a black screen until equipment switched off and back on. We gain the portal and a bug!

I'm in two minds whether to put 1.01.09 back on or live with it.

I am having this problem also, it appears to be (for me) when the box is already half on due to a recording. Seems to be ok from a clean boot. I have a 2010 Panasonic LCD.

I too have a Panasonic (Model TX-37LZD81 with major HDMI issues. Was previously fixed in version 1.01.04, but problems emerged in subsequent release so I'd gone back to 1.01.04.

When PVR comes out of standby 16 minutes before a recording is to start, the HDMI switches the TV over to PVR briefly then goes back to TV channel - this did not happen with version 1.01.04 (This was fed back to the 'Project Manager' at Humax via Barry on the old hummy.org.uk forums)

Whilst recording, but on Active Standby, on selecting power button on remote the HDMI switching didn't cut in, when I selected manually I just got a black screen I could only resolve this by unplugging the HDMI lead from the TV.

Also whilst it was recording something, I moved a previously recorded file to another folder, it crashed and rebooted

So happy with Portal & FTP features of this latest update, but the HDMI problems and stability are a major issue, for me.

Until/if they can fix, I have routed to HDMI2 on my Panasonic TV as this does not have auto-switching feature.

Hopefully Bob-cat is monitoring these posts and will take on board issues?

We've noticed this as well, no problem before this last update, but since installing the update then sometimes we get a blank screen and need to switch off the PVR HDMI input back to TV then back again, and it connects up okay then.

This is a Panasonic TV. It's not a huge problem once the family was educated in how to resolve it, but shouldn't have been there Humax.

I have a Samsung TV and it does this as well. It doesn't do it very often though and when it does it the TV just says "no signal" on the HDMI input. Power cycling the TV on it's own solves the problem, i never have to power cycle the box to get the picture back.

HDMI broken for me now too. (Panasonic)

No problems pre-update, but now I've gained a blank screen with no sound.

Switching the TV input around has no effect, and I have to power cycle the Hummy or the TV. I'm guessing that if I turn the HDR on before the TV it may work ok.

Poor show really, and considering the options, I may have to revert to the previous firmware. Does anyone know if this is likely to work ok, or could it destroy things like schedule, existing media etc?

Had the update applied on first OTA broadcast to 1.2.7 - thursday / friday - when ever it was
had the system hang - The unit stays on all the time , and was watching around 17:30 - turned TV off went out - This is normal - never turn of the Unit and the power setting is set to ON all the time

turned TV on - changed to HDMI - no picture or sound, played with the v format - no change - TV just show HDMI1
switched off at power switch and switched on - TV flashed green etc - but still no picture or sound - BUT did see the HUMAX logo on power up
Switched off at power switch Again - waited a few minutes - usual HDMI handshake and colour change on TV - now working .....

I have just had my first blank screen and no audio problem as well. Had the HDR-FOX T2 for several months and never had this problem before. I found that switching the Panasonic momentarily to HDMI 3 (where the FOXSAT is connected and waiting for the FOXSAT picture to appear)and then swicthing back to HDMI 2 (where the T2 is connected) cured the problem.

This issue is very frustrating, I applied the upgrade last night and then totally lost sync with my 5 year old Panasonic Plasma (connects via my Onkyo receiver).

What every I tried I couldn't get a picture and sound to sync, I would get 2 seconds worth about every minute.

I tried all sorts changing all of the HDMI settings I could find in the Plasma and Onkyo, in the end I appear to have cured it by changing the HDMI cable. I swapped it with the one that my Sony DVD player was connected to the Amp and hey presto perfect sound and picture again.

Now this cable worked with the previous release (although we did have a set power up order for it to work) but the minute I applied the new version it stopped working.

DVD player seems to be working fine with the other cable too.

Same issue here too with a Sony KDL46W2000. If the Humax is mid-recording and I turn the tv on, it's a real struggle to get a picture or sound. If the Humax is idle and I turn it and the tv on, there's no problem.

I'm not best pleased with this bug having been introduced. However, if people hadn't whinged and bitched about the delay in the portal firmware, perhaps a beta version wouldn't have been released and maybe this wouldn't have occurred.

And before anybody states the obvious, nobody forced me to download it!

I experienced this problem first with 1.01.09 and the beta versions seemed to cure it. Unfortunately its broken again now in the final release, 1.02.07...

But everyone is forced to get this update through the automatic update function of the box which I don't think can be disabled, so you would have got it sooner or late.

This version isn't suppose to be BETA, it has been released to everyone, so we shouldn't be having HDMI issues all over again

Humax's silence on these issues is typical Humax isn't it. At least apart from HDMI issues being re-introduced the firmware appears stable, even if the TV Portal is a little underwhelming what it does seems to work.

They are looking into the HDMI problems but I do wonder why they don't give customers a bit more reassurance via Facebook for instance.

I wonder if, like a lot of large companies, their Facebook page is run by a PR company who, every now and again are supplied with stuff to release (and answers to questions) from Humax. Not that that changes anything though, Humax can still supply the PR company with info to release.

The emails I used to receive from Humax (usually concerning software updates) seem to have dried up too.

I realise now that there's an HDMI problem whenever the Humax is on standby BUT THERE'S A SCHEDULED RECORDING TAKING PLACE. Have to reboot - which of course stops the recording! Didn't happen before the software update. (I have a Sony tv)

Hi can I just add I had this issue black screen etc with the latest firmware. I powered the unit off and have now lost all recordings.

When I powered the unit on it said it needs to format the internal storage, all recordings gone

Kinda sucks as I had loads of unwatched Top Gear!!

Also just checked after formatting theres a phantom 20Gb of used data???

Yep, I have the same issue on a Phillips TV. It always used to be dodgy if I put the TV in standby; returning from standby would often result in a 'No picture' or 'Video format not supported' message. The problems now are similar but do seem more related to the box being in record mode.

Have you tried changing the TV input from the PVR to something else and back again.

Under no circumstances should you turn it off when recording using the mains switch at the back, which is doing nothing more than yanking the plug out the wall does. While the box is on and not in standby then doing this could result in a corrupt drive needing a reformat.
