I had emailed "support@humax..." who never even acknowledged my message - I should've emailed Colin. But anyway, I've just tried switching the cable from HDMI1 to HDMI2, and so far it seems reliable (on half an hour's testing), even when bringing out of standby during an ongoing recording. So here's hoping it's fixed my issue.
Prior to this, the TV would totally repeatably fail to get a signal, if I turned the Humax on first (even not recording), and then switched channels on the TV to HDMI1.

Oh lor, I see I shall have to do a much more thorough set of tests. Perhaps mine doesn't behave properly either. Sorry if I gave a false impression, I was relying on what Colin wrote to me.

Hey - no need to apologise! I'm only annoyed at Humax!
And I did quite a bit of testing myself before I wrote my post, so I was fairly sure the hdmi2 thing worked OK, which intermittently it does(n't!).

This is exactly what happens to mine. Not everytime, every so often. I have to switch tv off then on again.

Mine is very intermittent too. Once it has gone wrong, nothing fixes it until the HDR Fox T2 has stopped recording. Selecting different inputs on the TV, power cycling the TV, nothing helps. I just have to watch using RGB SCART until the box isn't recording, which will be highly irritating when we have HD channels here (6 weeks away now).
I have found that pulling the hdmi cable out of the tv and reconnecting it tends to work, even if the humax is recording. But I'm loathed to do it and risk damaging the socket in the tv.

I would have thought power cycling the TV would achieve the same result.

And further to the above I too am finding HDMI2 unreliable. Sometimes power cycling the TV works, sometimes "on to standby cycling" the Humax works, sometimes nothing helps, as Owen finds.

I also have the same problem when connecting to a Sony KDL. Problem only seems to occur if Humax is recording. I have taken your advice and e-mailed Colin at Humax but no response as yet.
Found this thread and it seems appropriate to add my problems here. As there have not been many recent posts has a fix been found?
I have a Samsung Series 6 TV and have just bought a Humax Fox T2 1TB direct from Humax (arrived last Friday). The Humax is connected via a HDMI cable. The TV is not always picking up the Humax "No Signal" and the problem seems to be getting worse. It is more problematical in the morning (after the Humax has been in standby all night), is not detected at all by the TV if it is recording (i.e. the TV is not even registering the HDMI connection exists in its source menu list, whereas at least at other times it shows up in the source list). If neither of the above apply it is detected but you have to ensure the Humax has been on for around 15 seconds before you switch the TV on.
Things I have tried:
A different HDMI cable
A different HDMI input
Factory resetiing the Humax
Power saving options are off.
Upgrading to the latest vesion of the software (came with v19, ugdated to 27, whch seems to have made it worse).
Pressing V-Format 5x in rapid succession has no effect
Whether the TV or PVR is on first in getting the TV and PVR to communicate seems to vary e.g. this morning had a problem again first thing but this time eventually got them to communicate by putting the TV on first and then the Humax. Once the Humax has "warmed up" it seems switching the Humax on first and then the TV seems more successful

The advice is to email Colin at Humax (address given two posts above) to add to the number of people complaining. We know the HDMI sync is unreliable and there doesn't seem to be any work around.
Does anyone know if there is any new information about this problem? We bought a Humax HDR Fox T2 PVR three months ago. Since replacing the non-HD box (also a Humax), the screen on the TV goes blank at random intervals when trying to view programs through the HDR box. I have to power down both the TV and the Humax HDR box, power on the TV, select a different input, power it off, power back on (picture now restored) and then power on the Humax. Yesterday it lost the picture 12 or 13 times. The TV is a Philips 32pf9641d/10 and the TV is connected to the Humax using the HDMI cable that came with the Humax. I have given up and disconnected the Humax from the TV so we're stuck with non-HD viewing.
Hi. What version of firmware is installed? Version 1.02.20 seemed to cure these problems. If 1.02.20 then have you got a different HDMI lead and/or a different HDMI port on your TV you can try? Maybe also worth checking your aerial lead and seeing what signal strength you are getting. Otherwise I suggest you contact Humax in case you have a faulty box.

It will be Standard Definition 720 x 576 but should be a little better than from a SD channel. (Assuming the scart lead is fully wired and connected to RGB capable socket on the TV)
Have all the posters in this thread with hdmi handshake issues approached the TV makers to see if there is a firmware mod. I don't have any problems with a Sony TV and a HD FOX T2.
The Humax box has the latest firmware. The TV is 4 years old, they haven't released any new firmware for it for three years. The TV works with a BluRay player via HDMI OK and a standard DVD player via Scart no problem. I might try swapping the HDMI cables on the TV and see if that makes any odds. But as soon as I connected the Humax back to the TV this morning (to check firmware version and other settings), I got the black screen of death. I've tried emailing Humax but no response as yet.

Well I have a Sony TV and HDR Fox T2 (1.02.20 firmware) and I do have HDMI sync problems. Saying "Sony TV" is about as specicific as saying "Ford car".
Sony have never released any firmware updates for my KDL-26E4000, and if they did it would have to be on USB stick since this TV does not have an ethernet connection. As far as I can tell, software updates for TVs started with the internet connected "smart" TVs, probably because the software is so much more complicated. Plus the online services can change and the TV firmware needs to change to match.
The HDMI sync never fails between my TV and my Arcam DV-137 DVD player. So the HDR Fox T2 is definitely implicated.
