People use front facing cameras more than some would give credit for. And the iPhone appears to have also made people realise the potential a little more even if they did do the stupid thing of crapping it up by making it a WiFi feature rather than network.
Plenty of Android handsets are appearing with front facing cameras and HTC appear to have realised that this is a feature that has potential.
In the past people have had the option of over the network video calls but with mobile data so cheap and commonly used now you can use the front facing camera like a web cam over mobile data instead of racking up video call minutes. This is something getting more popular with things like Skype and instant messaging / chat apps. I think that mobiles with forward facing cameras may be more popular over the next year or two as we move towards more smartphone users.

I don't care what it's called if it's a decent enough handset.
