With Lady Gaga and Rihanna now owning the scene is Britney redundant?
Lets face it Rihanna and Lady Gaga really show Britney up thesedays as a hes been. Both out perform her and both are out selling her latest efforts.
Is there still a place for Britney? |

I think this year will be interesting. Gaga has to and probably will deliver sales not witnessed for a decade or more once Born This Way hits. So unless Britney and Rihanna can match that then Lady Gaga is the new queen.

Why can't there be room for all 3 artists? Plus you have others like Beyonce, Alicia Keys & Katy Perry who are also up there in terms of popularity and sales. |

I don't think Gaga will be able to top the sales of The Fame/Fame Monster which did brilliantly worldwide. I could be wrong though.

I think she will break TFM sales easy. She is defo looking at a new world record for first week sales. Born This Way will top every pre order chart from the second it gets a listed release.

Gaga tends to be a grower, not a shower in terms of sales.
I'm not expecting her to have ground breaking figures, or top her previous efforts...but I imagine she will have the biggest selling album of the year. She's still in her honeymoon period, after all. |

Oasis?
Just read that in the USA, N'Sync hold the one week record - when their second album sold 2.42 million copies in a week back in 2001. ![]() Quote:

As for whether her success makes Britney redundant, did Britney and Christina's success make Madonna redundant? HIAM has been a huge success for Britney and she actually hasn't done anything yet apart from sing the song and send it to the radio, I think that proves Britney's career still has a lot of life left in it. We've still got a video to come out and lots of promo has been promised (probably for closer to the album release as its just a waste now HIAM has done so well). FF won't get the sales of BTW but Britney will still be up there when it comes to end of year sales. Its a great time for fans of pop music! |

Britney's only redundant if nobody buys her records. She seems to be doing alright at the moment.
Plus its silly to say there's only space for two female performers in the market. Surely its nice to have a bit of variety? I'm not really a fan of Lady Gaga, Rihanna, Beyonce or Katy Perry, so I'm glad Britney's still around. |

I would say that Rihanna is owning Britney at the moment. Neither are particularly great singers, they both parade around in skimpy outfits, sing cheesy songs and cash in on media attention. Except Rihanna is a lot better at it, wouldn't you say? Rihanna's even jumped on the fragrance wagon now. Aw, she's like a younger Britney.
And they both pale in comparison to Gaga who first and foremost can sing (take that Rihanna) live (take that Britney). |

Where are people getting this #1 one in 20 countries things from? Hold It Against Me only went to #1 in Canada, one of the Belgium charts, Denmark, Finland, New Zealand and the USA. That's still amazing but it's 6 not 20.

People really are deluded if they think Gaga isn't going to break records with sales of her new album. Her new work is more hyped and sought after than any of her previous. She is currently the biggest star in the world. The only other people who reached the point Gaga is now at in recent times was the Spice Girls.
The sort of phenomenon that Lady Gaga is just don't happen everyday. You usually get one, perhaps, two a decade. |

No because a lot of people grew up with Britney and she still has a solid fanbase to buy her songs.

Britney is well better than Lady gaga and rihanna.
I will always love britney ...her songs are amazing. I like rihanna and lady gaga songs too. But britneys special and I grew up listening to her songs 24/7
