Totally agree about Shameless though. What a disaster and where it stopped too before it returns in the Autumn for the remaining nine episodes. On a plus point, last nights episode was the best episode of the series so far and hopefully those 1.55m viewers will rememeber it ended on a high note, and come back when it returns. Speaking as a big Shameless fan (I've watched since day 1), this series as a whole has been very disappointing. I hope the rest of the series picks up.”

Ah okay, I didn't realise that. The figure just seemed a little lower than other recent episodes-the share too, but being up YOY is an achievement. I also think the last few episodes have been really good and this amnesia storyline is being handled excellently mixing drama and comedy. The show just needs a couple more interesting stories to get back on track properly-the Barton/Macey feud looks interesting, as does the rumoured euthanasis story.

----

With regard to the ITV Tuesday situation, it's been getting gradually worse for a while. There was a noticeable dip when the hour long Emmerdale was removed as it boosted the rest of the night, but arguably Emmerdale has gone from strength to strength with the clash removed. But none of the factual programmes are working and I can't see why ITV keep pursuing them. I'd say they should try different drama repeats, an entertainment show-possibly something like Take Me Out?, or at least something that isn't factual, because BBC2, Ch4 and Ch5 already have that covered.

I think ITV should try and go for the male audience on Tuesdays, especially at 8pm. With Holby locking in a huge female audience at 8pm, there's no point going for the same audience. Something sport related perhaps? Whatever the show itself is about, programmer aimed at men is something ITV haven't tried yet and could work.

Emmerdale is currently up y-o-y (Jan-Feb in the overnights) so they're having another successful year so far. I'm in two minds about the Jimmy losing his memory s/l at the moment. But the other stuff coming up does sound promising. Yeah ever since the hour long Emmerdale was removed, Tuesday night has been in free fall for a long time. ITV could re-instate the hour long Emmerdale and try salvage some dignity on a Tuesday night, the removal of the hour long episode with it been moved to Thursday at 8pm is argueably the reason why Emmerdale's ratings have increased IMO after a very strong 2010. The question I guess is, what's more important...moving Emmerdale back and risk the show shedding viewers again or just admitting defeat every Tuesday night? I think Emmerdale is very important to ITV and I can't see them using it to prop up Tuesday night, but this ITV we're talking about here who schedule The Biggest Loser on a Monday night directly after a Corrie lead in of 10m+, which is clearly a Tuesday 8pm show in the making IMO.

Yeah well Neighbours seems to have flattened out at around 0.33-0.38m now. Ten Evening News yo-yos from 0.35m to 0.26m which is a much more dangerous game to play.

You know what you're getting with Neighbours each night, whereas if a big local story is developing in Sydney then you might be more inclined to tune into Ten's local news bulletin that night.

I think that explains the fluctuation. For example, the Ten Evening News was down further on Tuesday's low in both Perth and Adelaide last night, but recorded significantly improved results in the bigger markets of Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane, which sent its total audience well north of 300,000.

Always good for a laugh PJ. The Michael McIntyre show sounds genius.

Unlikely, given most Tuesdays there's generally sport on another channel, and ITV usually have football on Wednesdays anyway. The thing is, BBC1 isn't very strong on Tuesdays, you've got Holby and then a middling drama or something. Why ITV cannot beat that, or at least come close, is beyond me, and it can't just be because people avoid ITV on Tuesdays because people watch programmes, not days.

Another solid 4m+ night for BBC1, and Waterloo Road is holding up very well. Good job really, considering there's still another 34 episodes in the can.

Decent for the football, and I suspect Emmerdale will be tapechecked to around 7.5m.

Jamie is holding Wednesdays up for Ch4 with the rest of the schedule not doing too well. They've still got some solid bankers though with Heston & Jamie hovering around the 2m mark, whilst OBEM and Embarassing Bodies are near the 3m mark. Thursdays & Sundays need sorting out desperately though.

1.2m is good for Cowboy Builders, considering its still on repeats. I just hope it doesn't hurt new episodes. NCIS posting another strong 2m rating and it hasn't really fluctuated at all over the last few weeks. OK:TV falling to the same levels as LFSF, but the advantage being it's extra publicity for OK magazine.

Exactly. Daybreak had 3,000 viewers on +1 the last time it was reported, so it makes no difference.

I believe it was Bleakley who was off - Tuesday was Dan & Grainne and Wednesday was Adrian & Grainne i think.

I expect regular viewer ftv will know for definite.

Let's not get carried away re: Daybreak. A step in the right direction, but remember that the average share for GMTV in its final year was 20.5%. So for me, a Daybreak share below 20% is still not very good.

Hi George

Alas I wasn't watching yesterday, I stuck with BBC and had to go out early. Adrian was on this morning with an Irish woman (not Christine) I didn't recognise.I would have expected Adrian to be off yesterday as he was doing the football last night.Happy to say it seems to be an improvement on the GMTV figures but not share. BBC Breakfast does not appear to have lost any of its audience at 1.6 million
