Desmond comissioned the show about the Big Brother couple, bought the Mel B series, and probaly the Love Bus show on Fiver as well.

Also the rebranding of the channels looks like it was done in Microsfot Publisher.

All look like basic reality-docu type stuff to me, not sure anyone would consider it high-brow.

We'll have to see, but I don't have much faith in the owner, so let's see what happens.

I don't rate Outen as a TV presenter. Same with Vaughn. They had a good presenting chemistry together, for a while, but it wore off by the time Passport to Paradise came along.

The 60 minute one-off programme months back, you mean? Hardly worth a mention, especially in the context of the above.

Fair enough, but they are hidden away on digital. And neither have performed well, which is probably why with 5* they are going back the other way towards US imports again rather than original commissions.

No argument from me on that score, not fond of the new C5 logo. Only hope is that it will come across better on screen. One logo does not make a rebrand though.

I agree with this, there have been a catalogue of disasters she's been involved in, and Vaughn's radio show only started picking up when Snowdon became co-host. Yet it still can't be denied it's embarrassing to "lose" your host so close to the launch.

the Channel 5 logo is the only one to look "good", but the logo is normally at the heart of a channels brand, its hard to argue that a cheap logo does not mean a cheap rebrand.

You must have missed the launch of Channel 5 with The Spice Girls and the really basic logo and idents they had back then. That was cheap!

Until you see it in context, either on screen or through idents, break bumpers, etc, and how it animates, it's a bit difficult to judge whether the rebrand is "cheap" or not. It's one component of what is likely to be a whole new graphics package.

and back then the channel was pretty cheap, and no where as good as the channel has been as "Five" there was no CSI, or orginal shows like The Gadget Show &The Business Inspector.

I dont think The Wright Stuff was even on air back then.

Considering they can't correctly centre-align the star in the new 5* logo I daresay the rebrand will be pretty cheap. After all, why would Desmond spend money on something as luxurious as identity?

What a disaster for Channel 5, the presenter quits before the show actually starts.

She's probably best out of it, as it sounds like complete trash. I wonder if they will keep Kate Walsh for good or just as a temporary measure.

that reminds me of something that happened to Family Affairs, (the old Channel 5 soap) years ago Jack Ryder was confirmed to join the show, but at the last minute, he pulled out, and the role was recast.

Interesting multichannel ratings yesterday. A very good start for Mad Dogs but not surprising at all because it has been promoted so much by Sky over the last few weeks, they've got billboard up for it and have a really good cast so it was always going to be close to that million mark. It seems to have been well received by people who watched it so I don't think it'll drop much next week (maybe down to ~800k). A strong return for Celebrity Juice, especially now that it's no longer got Katie Price's 1m+ lead-in anymore. With a 26 episode order for this year, it's now pretty much become ITV2's flagship original series.

Skins is struggling a bit this series. I know that 670k (inc. +1) for an E4 show is a great rating but there's always higher expectations with a show like Skins and given that ratings seem to be going lower and lower by the week and that it must be at E4's high-end in terms of cost for programming, could this generation be the show's last one? I know it could just be the characters putting people off and this could be fixed with new characters for the next generation but I just think if the ratings continue to decline (say to something like 500k or under inc. +1), is that really good enough for a scripted drama on E4? The channel could spend the money saved by dropping Skins on an original programme rather than revamping a show which I suspect is now close to reaching its limit creatively and hasn't got much more to offer.”

I think changing the cast the first time was a risk and it just about worked, but it was always going to be more difficult to pull it off a second time. I would agree it's probably best to end it after the next series and put that money into a new original drama.

Apologies if you include my input in that, I was just attempting to add a bit of balance to proceedings (and failing). That doesn't excuse the fact my posts were off topic, though, and for that I am sorry. I resent the fact that I let myself get dragged into another silly argument. I like a good heated debate, but I haven't had one of those on here for a long time. Time to call it a day I think.

Its defenitley the new cast and their bad acting that made the ratings decrease. Weird, this time last year everyone was talking about it in college, after the 1st episode was shown a few weeks ago, people said how bad it was. And none of my friends watch it now, neither do I.

If ITV wanted to give Primeval another shot they should air it just before The X Factor during the audition stage, before Strictly Come Dancing returns. Placing it right against Strictly would be the end for it, and would probably harm TV Burp in the process.

Marchlands performed well last night, retaining a lot of the audience. Coronation Street beating EastEnders on first showing is a bit of a surprise, though the latter received a good rating on BBC3. E4 will be hoping Skins doesn't go any lower. Not Going out has suffered with only having an Outnumbered repeat lead in.

I think Masterchef should do resepectably next week but I'll be surprised if it harms Marchlands too badly. It seems to have established itself now.

Ep1: 870k
Ep2: 748k
Ep3: 576k
Ep4: 496k
Ep5: 705k
Ep6: 770k
Ep7: 571k (highlights show)

Good ratings for it on the whole, especially as the last few episodes were up against Big Fat Gypsy Weddings. Ratings-wise it should be given another series but I dunno if it'd work as surely people taking part in another series would be a bit suspicious having been aware or seen the show on TV already?

I've added in the main multichannel shows from last night too, so you can see how they skew. Of the multichannel shows listed in that table:

- the most popular 16-34 show in raw numbers was Celebrity Juice (364k), slightly ahead of EastEnders (352k).
- the highest 16-34 skew was Skins (50%), with Sun, Sex and Suspicious Parents running it a close 2nd (48%).
- most popular 18-49 show in raw numbers and skew was Celebrity Juice (705k, skew- 74%). It does very well in the 35-44 category.
- most popular show among ABC1s and highest skew was Mad Dogs (435k, skew- 45%).
- least popular show among ABC1s was Skins, although Celebrity Juice had the lowest ABC1 skew (33%).
- Mad Dogs had a 52% skew in favour of males watching. All the other shows skewed towards females, although Sun, Sex and Suspicious Parents was almost an even split (51% v 49%). EastEnders had the highest swing towards females (64%).
