the baftas had many flaws last night, so not a bad rating really, it needed a new presenter without speech defect or annoying laugh

I wonder if DOI gained viewers week on week thanks to the media hype or lost them as deserved

Doesn't film baftas norm rate slot lower, I was expecting in the 3s.

Yes you're right just did a quick google, and according to guardian website 3.6m watched Baftas in overnights last year
http://www.guardian.co.uk/media/2010...tas-tv-ratings

I watched the second half last night, and despite some glitches enjoyed it, perhaps all the hype with The Kings Speech drew viewers in? Dunno what it got the previous year?

Wow - massive rating for the BAFTAs!

Must have dented WAH/DoIR a bit?

DS have updated.

Huge rating for the BAFTAS compared to recent performances! And the rest of the schedule performed well as usual with a strong 6m+. No real boost for the last LRTC though.

Interesting to see DOI increase week on week which is promising, probably due to the Karen/Jason fallout and fewer contestants i.e. a tighter show. That Sunday Show as stable as ever too.

Ch4 collapsed really. CDWM did OK, but it can do a lot more & it shouldn't be wasted in that 7pm slot.

Mixed results for Ch5's movies, but the second one did pretty well.

I wonder which terrestrial broadcaster will get the rights to show The King's Speech eventually? Am I right in thinking it's not backed by either BBC Films or Film4? (They must be kicking themselves...)

Decent numbers for Top Gear, up again week on week.

Including the two episodes shown at Christmas (part of this series to all intents and purposes), this must be its most successful run for some time.

Not strictly ratings related but the Channel 5 rebrand comes across quite well on screen, the pre-launch images suggested otherwise but it looks fine on air. Reasonably nice new set for Five News aswell.

Well obviously not body and soul as M and W are unmatchable. However they are the nearest modern equivalent. Even Erics son has thoughts along the same lines:

Impressive for main 3 channels last night in the 7-9pm hour

BBC1 21%+ LRTC
BBC2 21%+ TG
ITV1 32%+ DOI

I can't imagine an 80% share would be reached very often - almost 75% is very commmendable - considering most people have access to multiple channels.

Edit :- A&D are never going to be 1/10 the quality of M&W - think more Cannon & Ball for comparison.

They're having a very good run indeed. Switching to the January start was a good idea. There's clearly very little crossover with the likes of LRTC and WAH.

Great numbers for the BAFTA's last night - I can only presume thats the effect of The Kings Speech. Steady elsewhere really, without anything of too much note. Nice that Being Human has been so consistent on BBC Three this run. As we mentioned last week - it's plateaued, but has done so at a great level.

Be interesting to see how This Morning fared today.

Incredibly, they turned it over to Keith Lemon to run as the producer from the gallery - with predictable () results....like multiple news items about buses, getting Jedward to take over the fashion item and stopping the cookery item mid flow.

They also had a new 'quiz' element where Phil and Holly had to guess the identity of various non celebrity guests from clues and 20 questions put to them. As soon as they identified them they were not allowed to ask anything about their claim to fame:

Spoiler
Eg there was the woman who was fooled into thinking an alien had landed in her garden by Jeremy Beadle and the first couple from Blind Date to get married
.

It was, um, a bit of a strange episode.

But people will have tuned in and got hooked or left in utter bemusement. It might be worth seeing how the ratings fare.

As much as I like Keith Lemon and Celebrity Juice, I think him on This Morning is just ridiculous and shows what a sham the show has become. What used to be an OK light-entertainment show has just become a joke with stupid segments and silly attempts to grab headlines.

Do we know if The King's Speech was offered to BBC Films or Film4 from a finance point of view ? It would be a perfect Christmas night film for BBC1 in 2012.

0.4% share for Sky Atlantic in it's launch week. 0.5% for Sky Living (0.7% including +1).

Atlantic's daily reach was 1,293m. Reach for the week was 4,851m.

Sky 2 - 3,370 (5,923)
Sky 3 - 8,822 (10,867)
Sky 3+1 - 2,194 (1,642)

Living - 6,699 (5,613)
Living+1 - 3,375 (3,885)
LivingIt - 3,101 (3,541)
LivingIt+1 - 1,714 (787)
LivingLoves - 1,069 (752)

Comedy Central - 4,818 (3,668)
Universal - 2,420 (2,103)
SyFy - 3,244 (2,522)
FX - 2,911 (2,307)

Shows the power of EPG position.

Every channel has moved in the direction you would expect.

Very good numbers for the BAFTA's, I imagine because of the King's Speech being hyped a lot.

Anyway, top 20's here we come... changes, as always, are highlighted.
