Does anyone have any ratings from the middle of the night?
It'd be interesting to see how many people actually watch BBC News Channel on BBC1, ITV Nightscreen, ITV Morning News etc at 4am. |

- Garrow's Law has been recommissioned by the BBC, it returns for 4 episodes once again. The last series officially averaged 5.5m up against tough ITV competition, so a well deserved renewal for it.
- Jeremy Paxman fronting a new 5x'60 factual series for BBC1 due to air this Autumn, which traces the rise and fall of the British Empire – and its lasting effect on the modern world. - ITV commissions a new 7x60' comedy series, Show Me The Funny, which aims to discover a new stand-up comedy star. By the end of the series, one comedian will be crowned 'The Next Big Stand-Up'. |

Thats the issue, though. Who, in the entire industry, can carry a headline format on their own? Presenter-wise, there's only really Ant and Dec. And even they're not absolutely guaranteed hits - as PTB has found.
I don't think Graham Norton, John Barrowman or Claudia Winkleman are really any better or worse than Dermot O'Leary, Vernon Kay or Holly Willoughby. These days I think its the format that makes the show - and thats what the broadcasters need to be working on rather than worrying about presenting talent. |

Anyone have any predictions for Outcasts tonight? Will be embarrassing for BBC if it goes under 3m, as it'd almost certainly mean The Biggest Loser would win its slot with probably ~4.5m.

I'd suggest 3m is quite likely. If it does, it'll get banished to 10.35 before it's done. Quite appropriate for a drama called "Outcasts". Traffic Cops soon I'd suggest
At least the BBC can't be accused of failing to promote it. A full fortnight and a bit of trailers, plum slot, other dramas moved around to give it the best chance. A massive waste of £5m. The alarm bells were ringing last Autumn. Just not credible.... |

--------------------------------------------------------------------------- Dancing on Ice and Wild at Heart are still doing ok for ITV1; Top Gear's performing as strong as ever for BBC2 though ever so slightly down on last week and the BAFTAs did brilliantly considering how it performed last year. |

Wild at Heart still doing ok for ITV1
2006- 9.72m 2007- 8.04m 2008- 8.05m 2009- 7.76m 2010- 7.84m 2011- 8.13m (8.26m inc +1) Bearing in mind it's facing tougher competition than usual this year (from Top Gear), I think it's doing really well and more importantly it's been consistent this series whereas last year it fluctuated a lot week by week. Will be interesting to see if and how South Riding affects it next week. |

Not a fan of the show, but worth noting that the current series is so far Wild at Heart's highest rated since 2006. Official averages for the first 5 episodes of each series:
2006- 9.72m 2007- 8.04m 2008- 8.05m 2009- 7.76m 2010- 7.84m 2011- 8.13m (8.26m inc +1) Bearing in mind it's facing tougher competition than usual this year (from Top Gear), I think it's doing really well and more importantly it's been consistent this series whereas last year it fluctuated a lot week by week. Sunday 9pm fair - will it be ready to take on whatever ITV out in the Downton Abbey slot in the autumn, I wonder? Otherwise it'll get the January slot this year occupied by Zen I guess.

That's not a tactic the BBC employ is it ? I mean it's not like they ratings chase or anything.
When was the last time they shunted a programme ? If the dropoff is bad enough, it will get moved. Kudos will just have to grin and bear it, it's pretty much their first flop on BBC1. |

So are we all expecting to see a significant increase in shows on Channel 5 now due to all the people tuning in who refused to watch it when it was called Five.
I think the weather said everything you needed to know about this revamp - it opens by telling us who styled and dressed the weather girl. |

That's just getting humiliating for Ten. No signs of any moving in the right direction for the news. No sign of Neighbours slowing down now the hype of the move has died down either, which is good.
