Doesn't really need saying again but phenomenal for BFGW! Number one show of the day, won its slot, more viewers than ITV1 and BBC1 combined and Ch4's highest rated programme in years. Fantastic. I really don't understand the big hype though.

Taggart got a boost, but still poor by ITV drama levels. CSI also got a decent boost and interesting to see it come 2nd with 16-34's. ITV need to launch a big new drama after The Biggest Loser finishes, because there will be 2 weeks where BBC1 could be sub 3m and they could capitalise on that.

Very poor for Lion Country considering the lead in and how it rated before. Normally these sorts of shows are guaranteed 3m.

Both the soaps performed decently in the clash, but predictably EE falling more from its usual level. Both soaps aren't in top form atm, particuarly EE imo but they're holding their audiences extremely well.

yes they do, its just a rebrand so the channel wont be assocaited with them, but still take up space on Freeview that could be used for a better channel, or even Five+1 (which would still be better)

I'd question whether it was the wrong decision - in a way Neighbours flopping on Eleven would be more damaging to them than the news flopping on Ten - and financially I wouldn't be surprised if 350,000 viewers watching on Eleven might actually bring in more money than 450,000 watching on Ten.


Bloody hell! I did think after the "pilot" Cutting Edge documentary last year it would be a solid performer for them - but I was thinking 4m, not 8m. I love the fact too it's the only show in this thread where we only ever talk about the ratings.



A shame yet again the +1 debate crops up, especially as all the regular contributors to this thread make it absolutely clear whether +1 figures are either included in or to be added to the figures they post.

That said, I think you've opened up a whole new angle on it there rzt - hadn't really thought about that aspect to it and how they boost the none +1 channels.


Jake Humphrey said at the weekend it's the last he is presenting, so speculation is the BBC are passing on the rights next year.

I guess we can now add 1m to the 110m in the US - so that's 111m. They just need to find another 889m now and they'll get to their completely made up "billion" claim.


Some very disturbing behaviour on that show - not by the kids, but by the parents who wish to see their kids in that show. That poor kid who got sprung by his mother whilst having a lap dance - that'll take years of therapy to cure!

I guess too the nature of the show makes a second series less likely - though then again it didn't harm The Secret Millionaire (initially at least) when "volunteers" suddenly turned up with a C4 camera crew.

Really don't get the appeal of Big Fat Gypsy Weddings but credit to it, it's doing superbly. I'd like to see whether a couple of big shows (ie. Silent Witness and Doc Martin) would be able to pull it down or whether it's audience is now 'locked in'. Outcasts is a flop and for me Taggart should've performed much better than that considering the lack of competition on BBC1. Lion Country was also a failure, but if ITV continue to refuse to use the soaps to boost Tuesday's these kinds of things will continue to happen. Talking of the soaps, that's a very good repeat figure on BBC3 for EastEnders.

Yeah, I was just gonna post the same thing too - the preview video for the new MasterChef says it's on for 11 weeks and there's 15 episodes. So it's likely that there'll be two episodes a week for the first four weeks and then one a week from then on. If the once-a-week episodes air on Thursdays, it opens up the possibility of The Apprentice returning on Wednesday 16th March which would be good scheduling because its final, assuming it's on Sundays, would be done and dusted before the Britain's Got Talent finals week airs (so no clash).

It would also give them the option to air masterchef at 8 on a Thursday , if the 9 pm slot doesn't work.

She posted on her website today to say that she wished the show all the best and still loves it but won't present it ever again. I'm not sure if she's been that categorical about it before but yeah, she's made it pretty clear so it's surprising the article suggested it.

The regional news on Ten creeped ahead, but Neighbours seems to be holding on strong in the 0.3m bracket!

if Neighbours was to level off around the 300,000 mark, it would be a fanastic acheievement, most likely it would continue to dominate the digital channels.

Even if TEN Evening news was to find its stride, 300,000 is an amazing number, even more so when it does it 4 or 5 days a week.

I don't think she's ever ruled it out, but if Davina and her management have any sense she'll steer well clear. She said goodbye to the show last year, and she's now got a number of decent projects on the go - she'd just be going backwards.

ETA: Just saw her blog, she's definitely not doing it again.

Shame about Davina but there are a number of people who would be just as good in the role, in my view. Emma Willis and Caroline Flack spring instantly to mind, but there are others.

I think having Davina on board would certainly have helped from C5's perspective, but I don't think it's crucial. The fans were growing increasingly less fond of Davina anyway, mostly due to perceived bias and her interviewing style which seemed to get worse in the later runs.

The main reason why Davina made the whole thing so watchable was down to her energy and sheer passion for the show, and I think Emma in particular (a self-confessed BB addict) would at least be able to match her in this regard.

Glee didn't really get any boost from The Superbowl and FOX's scripted woes this season continue with Traffic Light. The y-o-y comparison doesn't mean much for FOX because last year was an Idol night.

I think it depends how much they offer her, Big Brother without Davina would be strange and I imagine a familar face would help transition the show moving channels. If there is a new presenter, I wouldn't have any ex Big Brother contestants either on the main show or the digital spin-offs.

Nope, their only hit on the night last year was Lost - the other 2 hours were filled by a Lost repeat and their failed 10pm drama, The Forgotten.

But the new episode of Lost had a 5.0 - more than all 3 shows combined on Tuesday night! Plus, while The Forgotten flopped, Detroit 187 is down 35% from what it was getting.

How have the figures up to 2009 been calculated for the digital channels?

The BARB reports up to 2009 for digital channels all show shares in multichannel homes only, not all homes.

Only since 2010 are the shares for digital channels calculated for all homes.

So the data is not directly comparable.

Unless you have manually adjusted all data up to 2009 to adjust for this? To do that you would need to know multichannel penetration in January each year.

If you haven't, the shares up to 2009 will all be too high - because, eg, a 2% share of viewing in multichannel homes would only be a 1.5% share of viewing in all homes at the point when 75% of homes were multichannel.
