Good for the football last night. Madagascar performed brilliantly, as did The Real King's Speech which was brilliantly scheduled. BBC1 was very stable throughout the evening, though The One Show wasn't boosted by people tuning in to see what the fuss was about - maybe BBC1 were too efficient for their own good.

looks like E4s decesion to air Glory Daze instead of TBBT & HIMYM, was even more wrong than I have previously expressed

Masterchef is doing good business against tough competition, I'm liking it so far but I think it should really kick off next week.

This is why ITV are usually reluctant to introduce new 'filler' reality/talent shows, even though people on here keep saying they should do.

Anything now looks like a cheapo version of TXF or BGT. Just the same way as anything on the BBC looks like a budget version of SCD.

That link by the way doesn't even say what channel it will be on, what time, how many episodes etc, I remember all that fuss when the papers said that Amanda Holden would be hosting a remake of The Crystal Maze!

I volunteer Frankie Boyle as head judge. Someone who would make it his mission in life to make as many of them cry as possible.

By "normal levels" I assume you mean about 7 - 800,000 viewers? The advertisers will be ecstatic.

(Incidentally, the half-term doesn't seem to be hitting BBC Breakfast much).

Seems to have got a really good reaction up here. BBC2 would be smart to give it an airing nationwide - it's probably the best comedy to come from BBC Scotland since Rab C Nesbitt or Still Game.”

It's Irish. Could you not tell by the Irish accents?

The show was filmed with BBC Scotland crew in Glasgow.

Likely date for its return is Friday 8th April. I think it'll be paired up with either My Family or BBC1's other new sitcom Meet The Doyles. I read somewhere that Outnumbered will be back in September rather than the Spring, although of course that could be wrong and it may well be coming back soon.

Well, an award voted by critics/judges is somewhat different to one voted by the voting public.”

I'm disappointed to read Have I Got News For You is moving back to Fridays. HIGNFY has been rating higher on Thursdays than it used to on Fridays and the Beeb have found a very strong alternative Friday night schedule over the last few months with their returning dramas. I don't think comedy works well on Friday nights due to the lack of casual viewers around and lower overall TV viewer-ship. Comedy is generally going to attract more casual viewers than a drama would due to the serial nature of most dramas. For already established comedies they can get by on Friday but for any brand new comedies cropping up, they just don't get a fair chance on Fridays.

With ITV generally airing drama or factual on Thursday night, comedy from the BBC was acting as good alternative complimentary scheduling. ITV will be airing their comedy Benidorm on Friday nights soon though.

Looking at the HIGNFY record dates it looks like BBC ONE will continue with live coverage of the Royal Wedding into the peaktime schedule as there is no record of the show on the Thursday.

Will Eastenders get kicked out of the schedule on the 29th as well?

It's audiences, Daybreak has a younger audience appeal, like students, whereas BBC Breakfast has a slightly older one, eventhough I'm 18 and watch BBC Breakfast, not the best example maybe but I'm ok with it.

I would thought they'd keep the primetime schedule intact, the wedding will mostly be in the afternoon so what on earth could they show in the evening.

The cocaine, prostitutes, divorces, arrests, rehab stints and hospital stays didn't do it - but Charlie Sheen may well have started putting the final nail in the coffin of Two and a Half Men.

TMZ

Somewhat ironic that Carlos Estevez seems so preoccupied by Chuck Lorre's real name! Incidentally, Charlie is in "home rehab" just now but just travelled to the Bahamas with his ex wife, a model and a pornstar.

The end of Two and a Half Men would likely have major implications for CBS. Launching in 2004, the show occupied the 9.30pm timeslot behind Everybody Loves Raymond. It's transition to 9pm worked like a dream and has anchored CBS' Monday schedule for several years now. It could potentially mean that The Big Bang Theory (another Chuck Lorre show) gets pulled back from its Thursday slot to anchor Mondays.

Yep its due to the halfterm.
Breakfast would probably have been slightly down a bit too this week if it hadn't been for the big news week. As we can see with the BBC News at Ten, people are interested in the current events in New Zeland and Libya.
I don't think there's many who want to turn to Christine Bleakley to find out the latest on Gaddafi.

Ironically The last time RZT posted the breakdown, Breakfast was 39% ahead of Daybreak among A16-34s. It was even winning 4-15 year olds

This might be one of those few times where a high rated show has been cancelled rather than ended. I reckon CBS and Warner Bros are going to try and sort this out because for WB theyre going to lose syndication money and CBS their highest rated sitcom. TBH I did think after next season, the show would end anyway but I think Sheen has acclerated its demise.

The latest statement:

Quote:
“Based on the totality of Charlie Sheen’s statements, conduct and condition, CBS and Warner Bros. Television have decided to discontinue production of Two and a Half Men for the remainder of the season.”

I think the chances of it returning look slim now. Presumably it all depends on whether or not Sheen recovers and even then, if Lorre is willing to work with him. His vanity cards after Mike & Molly and The Big Bang Theory next week could be interesting...

Well, they'll probably do a highlights show. For HIGNFY, the problem will probably be that they'll have to record it before the Royal Wedding but the main topic will more than likely be the Royal Wedding, so unless they do it live it would look out of date. It's a Bank Holiday too, of course, but there'll be a 'stEnders.

As for Comic Relief, it's not going to be a proper 'stEnders, not like when Children In Need used to only run around the shows and they'd still do the usual Friday stuff in between. Wogan used to say that on one of the first they got permission to put up the phone number during all the other programmes that night apart from It Ain't Half Hot Mum, who refused as they thought they were too important.

In fact, it might be Come Fly with Me which takes the Friday, 9pm slot on Royal Wedding day... maybe.

5.9m for Marchlands last night, including HD and +1. Much be one of the steadiest dramas ratings wise for quite a while.
