What's the weather like up there, on that high horse you're sat on? Why on earth should a channel be pulled just because you don't like it. Might as well get rid of every channel in that case as I'm sure if you looked hard enough you'd find someone who disliked each of them.

Channel 5 has made/produced/shown many things of note over the years, but I'm not going to waste my time filling you in as all the relevant information is available on the channel's Wikipedia page. Why not let your fingers do the talking instead of filling the thread up with junk?

I think they should just leave it where it is. I think The Mentalist will hold up okay despite CR.

By the way, after Hancock tonight, Channel 5's next movie premiere will be Death Race (2008) on 13th March at 9pm.

The other Channels seem to give up when Comic Relief is on, may be ITV1 didn't want Bernidorm to be dented given that Comic Relief does great when it is on, last Comic Relief only Channel 5 put up any real alternative with NCIS and still did respectfully.

A fantastic night for BBC1 with the rugby giving a strong lead in which lasted through the night, though Casualty seems slightly low. Diabolical for ITV1; though I guess 4m across the night isn't too bad it should have done much better IMO. TV Burp seems to only be any good when it has a crutch and Push the Button is, frankly, pathetic.

Death Race should do well although it's a Universal film so I guess Channel 5 must have bought it as part of a deal with Universal but I imagine it wont affect ITV1 who have a output deal with Universal Pictures.

BTW Are they showing any family films before that or it is Superman IV?

Hancock should do well tonight, the competition on Channel 4 and BBC Two isn't great so they should easily get over 2m, 3m would be great but unlikely.

Buying the Six Nations so they don't have to show YBF seems a strange way of looking at it!

Inevitably it would lose viewers if it transferred over though, so you have to factor that in.

Not that I would be against the idea of Six Nations on ITV, I happen to think their rugby union coverage is quite good and the Aviva premiership highlights programme on Sunday evenings is a highlight of my viewing week. And with the BBC having to make some cutbacks, the Six Nations could well be vulnerable when the rights come up for renewal.

I think the BBC's coverage is getting a bit stale actually. Same old commentators and pundits, very little if any innovation. I don't think it's one of those sports the BBC particularly excels at covering. They should take a leaf out of ESPN's book, their coverage is always a joy to watch.

I think Hancock should clear 2m easily. Pre-Oscars people will be in the mood for a good movie and as you say BBC Two and Channel 4 don't have much to compete except MOTD2.

- Take Me Out #1 show for 16-34s, Let's Dance #1 show for 18-49s, Six Nations Rugby #1 show for ABC1s.
- Male: female split (59:41%) for the Six Nations wasn't as big as I'd thought it would be. I suppose with the bigger matches, more casual viewers will watch, so they'll attract a bigger skew of female viewers than low-profile rugby matches.
- TMO's skew seems to get younger and younger every week (35% 16-34 yesterday compared to 30%, 32% & 33% last three weeks). Its 16-34 rating is very strong, the problem is that hardly anyone aged 55+ watches it, which makes its total rating look modest.

I do agree the BBC coverage is very stale and one of the benefits of ITV not having regular live rugby is come the World Cup they can bring a fresh team together every four years round.

As for BBC cutbacks - it would be a travesty if they set out to cut back on their rugby coverage as BBC Sport has very slim pickings in the first quarter of the year (other than the Six Nations), and even if they got the FA Cup/England games back there is something quite wrong IMO about giving up rugby in favour of putting more cash into the FA.

First in the firing line should be the live Championship/League Cup rights - they hardly represent good value for money.

It's a terrible film but it's weird they're not completing the series, I suspect it's because they don't have the rights to it.

Agree about Hancock, Will Smith films tend to do well, the terrestrial premiere of The Pursuit of Happyness did decently despite being up against the last hour of Transformers and I Am Legend was a decent performer for ITV1.

The Football League seem like the most logical to drop, I suspect they only picked them up as a substitute to the FA Cup, I reckon ITV or Channel 5 would acquire Football League rights.

I was thinking it would attract a different audience to ITV and only used YBF as an example as I doubt many rugger buggers are YBF fans.

I think Paddy deserves it. He is brilliant on the show. The show is very cheesy with its lines, but its fantastically mesmerizing to watch, and cringe worthy.
Its weird to think he beat Ant and Dec and Harry Hill, by about half a million too. Also, TMO was in a later slot, and finished 7 mins early. It was probably around 5m tapechecked, and will come to the mid 5m in the officials. I think it would do even better if they gave it a regular 8pm slot.

The Mentalist's numbers are interesting. Third in its slot for the first episode, but retention into the 2nd was far better than Hawaii Five-O and Bones/Castle and it won its slot at 9:30pm.

Quite a low rating night overall with the exception of 60 Minutes which posted a very good rating for its recent standards and Miss Marple which continues to rate well for ABC in a tough timeslot.

It's summer over in Australia so ratings are going to lower than usual, probably doesn't help that there putting crime dramas against each other which will split the audience. Move them to different days and ratings will flourish!

Be careful what you wish for for many Dancing on Ice fans...I wonder how the shock exit will hit the ratings; a boost, a dip...I still think the whole show should move earlier. The night worked better when Lewis was at 9pm. Of course, this is if they refuse to move it back to Saturday.
