Poor for the Football last night, there again it was an incredibly one sided game, so maybe not too much of a surprise. Nice lift for BBC1, while BBC2 did very well.

It seems like ITV have thrown a spanner in the works for the rumoured 'Doctor Who weekend' on BBC1 in Easter, having announced a special Coronation Street episode to air on Easter Sunday: http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/soaps/s3...r-special.html

If BBC stick to the rumoured plan, we could have Doctor Who vs Coronation Street, unless the latter airs in the 8pm hour. Also, this makes me think that Britain's Got Talent will air on Saturdays and Sundays this year.

I doubt Doctor Who'll air as late as 8pm; more likely to be at 7pm I would've thought so it'll avoid Coronation Street in the later slot. It makes sense to have Britain's Got Talent across the weekend though it's a risk considering it's a new look/new panel which may succeed or may not succeed.

QI's move is interesting - it'll do fine on BBC2 but was doing well against Coronation Street on BBC1 and I can't see anything doing any better so it doesn't make any sense. Maybe BBC1'll move Question of Sport back into primetime to take the place.

The football did badly last night, but considering it was the money men against a bunch of kids it's no surprise. BBC1 and BBC2 especially benefitted, and I'm surprised so many David Attenbrough shows are placed on BBC2 considering the viewers they can pull in.

I believe Coronation Street has aired on Easter Sunday for the past few years, in fact probably every year since it stopped being on Sundays regularly.

Here's the blurb on ITV's Sing If You Can !

SING IF YOU CAN - ITV1

Sing If You Can is ITV1's brand new, primetime singing show like no other!!!

Can our talented celebrity singers deliver a stunning performance while we do our very best to distract them?! It’s undoubtedly ‘talk-about’, it’s unashamedly silly, and it’s absolutely unmissable. And it’s all in aid of charity.

Across six weeks, our star studded line up of celebrities will do battle; they’ll perform a mix of modern hits and classic songs not just for the glory of winning, but also to raise funds for Teenage Cancer Trust. It’s sure to be a charity event like no other.

After their performance, each of the two teams will be judged by our panel of three celebrity judges. However - it is up to a jury of YOU our live studio audience, to decide which team goes through to the grand final. One celebrity from the losing team will be dropped from a height into an huge water tank, so the stakes are high…

With amazing performances of all-time favourite hits, hilarious surprises and exciting challenges, this show is sure to get you up off your seats. Sing If You Can will leave you with a song in your heart and a smile on your face.

The Easter bank holiday weekend is generally a below average rating weekend in terms of the total TV audience available, so it will be interesting to see how the launch of Dr Who, BGT and Corrie special get on. I suspect they will come in lower than anticipated. Although of course, a low overall TV audience does not mean an individual channel cannot rate high.

Last year the Easter Sunday episode of Corrie had 7m in the officials (not including HD) putting it 12th in ITV's chart. It was beaten by all epsiodes of Emmerdale except the one on Thursday at 8pm which I believe clashed with an hour long episode of Eastenders.

It had 1.7m viewers less than the next lowest rated Corrie and 3.4m less than the highest rated episode.

Not really worth the effort, is it?

That'll be because ITV didn't bother to promote that they were having a Sunday episode as Sunday isn't the normal night for the show now. With this being a special episode set in London I suspect they'll make more of an effort promoting it, which will help their ratings a lot. Even if it doesn't do as well as the other episodes it still adds to the schedule as ITV's Easter Sunday schedule appears to look like this:

19:30 - Coronation Street
20:00 - Britain's Got Talent
21:00 - The Suspicions of Mr Whicher

Which to me looks like a pretty damn strong schedule (although obviously I'm not sure that this will be the schedule but that's how it looks at the moment.

Chris Lilley is totally under rated in this country, would love to see Ja'ime appear on something like Come Fly With Me

Not that it makes any difference, but the special is one hour.

I didn't realise that as the DS article says 30 mins, but yeah it doesn't make much difference as Corrie could just start at 7pm.

That's weird, maybe DS got it wrong originally and it will just be 30 mins, although for a special episode like this one an hour seems more fitting.

Also, I agree with what you've said about BGT airing on Saturdays and Sundays, launching on Easter Weekend.

On another note, Sing If You Can sounds dire. I wonder how they'll pitch it though, as I guess if they do it Let's Dance style and go for comedy with comedy judges then it may have a small chance. Also, ITV have piloted 2 gameshows in the last week: Control with Christine Bleakley and Holding Out For A Hero with Gethin Jones. Apparently ITV will commission one of them to have a full series in the Summer, according to Bother's Bar.

The BBC could go with A friday/Saturday Dr who.

Good Friday-EastEnders 8:00pm (Rumoured Reveal to Baby swap)
8:30pm Dr who
9:30pm My family

Saturday

7:00pm Dr who
8:00pm Lottery
8:15pm Casualty
9:05 Easter Film

Thats what i would do
i think Dr who after a massive episode of EastEnders would do well on the Friday at 7:00pm on Saturday seems like the best time

Doctor Who would never be on until 9:30pm as that's too late.

Never say never
I think a good EastEnders lead-in and a later slot on Good Friday would help it actually.

shouldnt the baby swap reveal be on Easter Sunday, Tommy Moon being reborn in Kats eyes, in the same way Jesus rose from the dead, on Easter Sunday (if my bible knowledge is correct)

That said im pretty sure it was Jesus on the cross, not someone who switched places with him

Nine have got big problems at 7pm all of a sudden with the collapse in viewership that 2.5 Men is experiencing. I don't think they will be content with finishing last in that slot for much longer, it impairs their whole night IMO.

I'm a little confused as to why they've pulled it from Brisbane but not the other markets yet, unless they are testing the water with potential replacements. If so, The Big Bang Theory doesn't look to be much of a goer to me - they haven't built up enough episodes yet for it to be stripped daily - plus it could damage the highly successful reruns on GO!.
