Isn't that what they are doing at the moment, a bit of both? They won't move it for films, but they have in the past year for Penn & Teller: Fool Us, Coronation Street: The Big 50, The Millies, I'm a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here!, James Corden's World Cup Live and Popstar to Opera Star.
Personally I think starting a half hour news bulletin in the middle of a movie is just as irritating as if they had done it during any of the above programmes. They do it with films because they feel they are more likely to get away with it ratings wise. And that is wrong.
