Great numbers for Taken - I remember going to see it in the cinema a few years back with no expectations and really enjoying it. I think that was the story at the box office as well (relatively small budget - I think it originated in France, ended up grossing $200m worldwide) It seems to appear on Sky Movies quite regularly as well.
Take Me Out is probably keeping ITV happy just now. Push The Button isn't doing terribly but for an Ant & Dec vehicle, it's not good enough and I doubt it'll be back. ITV must be hoping to get more out of them. Even though I'm A Celebrity and BGT are massive shows, they're only on for 10 weeks a year in total. BBC1 have a pretty solid line-up across the night which seems to be delivering every week. Secret Fortune looks like something they'll bring back next year - although I'm not sure those numbers will fill the US networks with as much excitement as Nigel Lythgoe might be hoping. |

Between January and April, it'd also be nice to see a pre-watershed gameshow/comedy. Us being ratings buffs, we tend to look in the past a bit - some people have mentioned bringing back Poker Face, while I've personally suggested a recorded return for Friends Like These - if the rights can be secured. We'll probably see a brand new Ant & Dec project next year - from ITV's perspective a co-production between Gallowgate and ITV Studios should suit both parties. Comedy is definitely their thing but it hasn't really been attempted - something a bit off-the-wall with sketches and challenges (between just them and guest actors/comedians) could be really popular. Perhaps it could be a replacement for TV Burp in the winter...so we have a comedy slot nearly all-year round on ITV (apart from summer, obviously) |

Taken is one of those where you have to go in with low expectations but it's a decent thriller and the film that sort of reinvented Liam Neeson as an action hero leading to parts in The A Team and Unknown. |

BBC Two 20:00- The Books We Really Read: 1.15m (4.9%) Not a great night for BBC2, as according to DS the above 'Books We Really Read' figure was their highest rating of the evening. |

Wow, two very impressive ratings, and that comes from Taken and Take Me Out.
Taken almost reaches 4m, brilliant for C4 on any day, but on a Saturday!! That's even better! It's a brilliant film! And then there's Take Me out hitting 5.3m, the 2nd highest rated show of TMO. I wonder if Lucy getting a date will effect the ratings (even though there are only 2 shows left), or maybe next week, more people will tune in to see how her date went. |

Just looking at Saturdays ratings -is it possible that ant and decs ratings improved, because let's dance finished earlier, meaning 20 mins before take me out

ITV up week on week, probably due to Got To Dance ending on Sky1. Another eventful show too with Tim Healy 'the transvestite off of Benidorm' jumping out the audience
. Strong for WAH too. Interesting to see TV Burp not too far off its Saturday airing .Another solid ~6m night for BBC1 and South Riding is performing very well. Ch4 and Ch5 collapsed really. The move of Country House Rescue didn't work at all. Strange move really moving an 8pm show to a weekend 9pm slot. Some bizarre scheduling from Ch4 on Sundays lately. |

Sunday's overnights:
BBC1 The Boat That Guy Built 3.3m 14.9% South Riding 5.9m 21.9% ITV (inc ITV+1) Dancing on Ice 8.6m 33.6% Wild at Heart 7.4m 26.7% Dancing on Ice: The Skate-Off 7.2m 26.5% BBC2 Top Gear 2.9m 10.8% Wonders of the Universe 3.6m 13.3% Match of the Day 2 3.5m 19.6% (EDIT: can the above summary be edited to show "Best of Top Gear", since that's what it was - it was not a new episode, lest there be any confusion) Then again, it would have dented South Riding earlier in its run. It clearly knocked SR last night, and it won't have been helped by the lack of new TG to keep viewers away from DOI and WaH, both of which were lifted by the absence of a new TG ep. Shame to see SR dip below 6m in the overnights, no doubt it will timeshift well, but it has lost more viewers than I hoped it would over 3 short weeks. Top stuff though, it's a been a riot but felt a bit hurried crammed in to 3 episodes, no doubt for budget reasons. Good numbers for the timeshifted episode of Guy's Boat - it got 8.1m for the first episode then, and is more popular than Gypsy Weddings!

DOI is up, although those figures are with +1 included it is worth remembering. A lot of the twists feel like desperation but they're obviously having a positive impact on the ratings; albeit a minor one. It's still way behind the far superior Strictly - the show it was based on. ![]() Quote:

![]() The real stinker on Saturdays isn't Harry Hill anyway, it's PTB, and I think that should be more of a concern to ITV execs and the fanbois on this thread. |

FIVER's last day audience share: 0.4% including +1. Astonishingly low for a general entertainment channel available on all major digital tv platforms. And this was despite a packed schedule which included Malcolm in the Middle, Emergency Bikers and The Mentalist. It could only equal the performance of 4Music, which doesn't have a +1, and it was well beaten by Pick TV on 0.7%.
Fresh start today with the rebrand to 5* complete and a bunch of new programmes starting right across the week. It's make or break time for the channel now. That share ought to be around the 0.8% mark in my view, so I'd like to see it moving in that sort of direction. |

Brilliant for Wonders of the Universe, and I'm so pleased for it. Pretty amazing, when you think about it, that 3.6m people voluntarily watched someone explaining the Second Law of Thermodynamics.
![]() South Riding has been another plus point for the BBC Drama department - very, very solid against tough opposition. And, in fact, the whole night seemed to hold up even better than it usually does. ITV can be pleased with the first DOI too - and WAH is doing very well this series too. Must be up somewhat year-on-year as I seem to remember it falling to 6.somethings last year. |

ITV Head Peter Fincham is on Richard Bacon's R5L show 2-4pm today. They're bound to talk about ratings at some point!

The officials are now out for w/e 27th Feb. Worth a look.
Interesting to see how close it is getting between Hawaii Five-O and Being Human on Sunday nights. The latter still marginally ahead on 1.22m, but the former wasn't too far behind on 1.08m which is impressive for a pay TV network vs a free-to-air network. The Carling Cup final picked up an extra 1 million viewers on Sky Sports. Amazing that so many choose to watch it there instead of the BBC. Channel 5 is the only "big 5" broadcaster to not lose audience share year-on-year, posting a stable result of 4.7%. All the rest are down. |

Bet Sky are pleased with the performance of their big three entertainment channels after three full weeks of officials.
Living has increased reach and share big time since its Sky relaunch compared to last year. 5.166m > 7.403m 0.4% > 0.6% 5.613m > 7.315m 0.4% > 0.6% 5.749m > 7.686m 0.4% > 0.6% Sky 1 has gained too, in spite of the lack of Lost and 24, which many were predicting would dent its figures. 12.219m > 11.967m 1.0% > 1.0% 10.833m > 12.145m 0.8% >1.0% 11.022m > 12.604m 0.8% >1.2% And of course Atlantic which didn't exist last year. 4.425m, 0.3% 4.272m, 0.3% 3.658m, 0.3% |

Won't give him a straight answer on whether Simon Cowell is appearing on the next series of the UK X Factor either.
