i just got my second hand iphone4
and a friend of a friend said it was factory unlocked
and received txt from o2 saying it was unlocked

however when i got home i put my micro sim into it
and
itunes said
"this sim card appears to be unsupported" or something similer

it is factory unlocked because the model number in the settings is

MC603B

i rang o2 to ask for unlock. gave them the imei code and they said they have to send the request off to apple for a code but if its a factory unlock from apple what code would o2 be getting from apple

iv read some forums and people said they got the o2 unlock done there and then over the phone to o2 customer care

Did you connect the phone to itunes with another network sim in it ? This is how the unlock is done you will get a "congratulations your iphone is unlocked message".
The phone needs to connect to the Apple servers to unlock your phone.

i put my vodafone sim in yes then connected and it said
this sim is unsupported

Do you have an O2 micro-sim to try ?
Doesnt appear to be unlocked somebodys telling you porkys.Go here and if you hang around a live chat box will come up they will unlock it for you for free on contract or £15 if PAYG.Make sure you have loaded the sim with £15 of credit first.

no im not on PAYG O2
im only on vodafone so only have VF microchip

o2 said there waiting on apple for the code so it is unlockable once i get the code aint it?

i juust found it strange the phone is factory unlocked yet o2 is waiting on a code from apple

it apears i will have to buy an o2 sim pay an go and use it for 24 hours then unlock it then put my vodafone sim back in

yeessh didt think thered be this much hassle
