Bionic era - Could it have been good?
i think that honestly the song with Nicki Minaj - 'Woohoo' had such a catchy, well everything and if released instead of 'Not Myself Tonight' maybe the bionic era would have at least not have flopped...
anybody agree? Also i think there are actually some hits on the album, admittedly not as many as was expected, but i love 'All I Need' too as well as 'You Lost Me' 'My Girls' - i think its really fun. Also finally i think 'Lift Me Up' is an amazing song. she is vocally perfect although not single material, still bloody brilliant. Last edited by Musicdude10 : 08-02-2011 at 19:50. Nope I own the album and I dont think there is a single "big" song on it that could have been a massive hit single.

It was nowhere near as bad as people made it out to be, but once the general opinion of something is negative...people just follow suit. I bet the vast majority of people commenting on it didn't even give it a chance.
But of course, it wasn't spectacular or anything and it wasn't up to her standard. It has some great moments, and some not so. I'm not sure if it would have been a commercial smash regardless of the situation (Gaga comparisons, hate campaign, inefficient promo, poor debut single/video etc.) simply because it didn't have strong single options. The best songs on it were not en vogue (dance/pop). |

The album would have been better recieved if the single releases went like this:
1. Monday Morning [wtf was this put on the bonus CD] Woohoo I Am Prima donna You lost me The album has soo many good songs, NMT has to be the worst first single choice EVER! |

I think people were expecting a lot more. There was a lot of hype and build-up for this, Christina's big comeback and it kind of fell flat and people lost interest after Not Myself Tonight wasn't very good. You Lost Me is brilliant though. Ballads aren't popular now though, unless you're a boyband, so it was never going to do well. |

It would have been a lot better if she'd:
1) Added Little Dreamer, Birds Of Prey, Monday Morning and perhaps Stronger Than Ever to the main album. And the stuff she did with Goldfrapp too (OK, I haven't heard it, but its Goldfrapp, it has to be good) 2) Got rid of the worst tracks like Not Myself Tonight, Sex For Breakfast, Vanity, Woohoo, I Hate Boys, the interludes etc 3) Cut the album down to about 11 tracks 4) Released some decent singles like Elastic Love, Birds Of Prey, Monday Morning etc 5) Ditched the album title and artwork, and gone for a more stripped back/indie look OK, it wouldn't have sold a lot, but I think it would have been critically well received, and it would have saved Christina from a lot of embarassment. |

I love Not Myself Tonight.
![]() Not so much Sex For Breakfast, Vanity (although the lyrics are so bad they're awesome..), WooHoo and I Hate Boys, and the interludes... so almost agree! |

![]() Bionic is a great album (better than BTB imo) but it was too long. About 6 of the tracks could have been left off to give the album a more concise direction. Birds of Pray, Stronger than Ever, WooHoo, Vanity, I Am and My Girls are my favourites. NMT is one of the weakest track on the album. It is so generic and quite frankly - boring

No.
There wasn't a single hit on that album to suit the current Pop Music climate.

I think if WooHoo was the lead single it could have stood a chance, addictive song, trashy, fun and lyrically amusing. They could have EASILY got rid of 6-8 songs on the album to have a really strong pop album.
But then there was the whole zero promotion issue so you know... |

But then there was the whole zero promotion issue so you know... Oprah Appearance. Brand New Hour long VH1 special. Live performances on David Letterman. The Early Show. MTV Movie Awards. The Today Show Concert. More promotion than many could ever wish for, the album should have been huge in America if it weren't for one fundamental problem, it was a complete mess. No two songs worked together, it was like buying a Now That's What I Call Music compilation, all sung by the one person, even though 80% of the tracks didn't actually suit the artist one bit. It could have lost about 80% of the songs on there, the only songs worthy of an Xtina album would be Lift Me Up, Birds of Prey, I Am and maybe Bionic itself. The rest were either cringeworthy, pretentious, cheesey or just plain crap. She didn't even seem to like the songs when she was performing them, who can blame her. Thankfully it seems she's recording a new album, fingers crossed it's something she can be proud of. And that people will actually want to listen to. |
