im not into phones really although i do like gadgets etc,im just not into phones enough to spend money on them

love my nokia symbians but now i got a free upgrade and im jealous of everyone in office streaming youtube etc

so i can have a HTC WIldfire or a LG Optimus One

im well aware these budget phones are not the very best out there but im not really gonna care too much, ill prob just end up moaning about not being able to txt without looking at the screen anymore lol

any info from you experts is appreicated!

Hi, I know exactly where you are at, because I am thinking about my options too. For what its worth, a guy in a phone shop said that the Wildfire would be the better choice out of the two LG Optimus one (black) and the HtC wildfire. He said HTC were the originators and Lg were imitating the product - if you see what I mean. He also said HTC are good with updates etc. I think the LG phone looks really good, but I think I would opt for the Wildfire. On the Lg though, the camera software seemed a bit more exciting. I can't decide between the Wildfire - a safe option and the Desire, more cost. Good luck!!

You need to consider your own needs and feature priorities.

Anyone else can choose for you but you will probably end up with someone else's most appropriate smartphone.

Do some research and get the phone thats right for yourself.

thanks for replies ringtree and wavejock,i have done my own research but wanted to get a general idea of whats more popular with DS'ers

im leaning towards the wildfire as it has 2.1 with flash whereas optimus one has 2.2 without flash

when wildfire moves to 2.2 it should hopefully have flash 10.1 which is needed for some streaming suhc as iplayer etc

also wildfire looks a tad nicer, for free probably cant go too far wrong anyway

my upgrade date is next week,so if anyone else wants to weigh in please feel free

Has to be the LG for its higher resolution screen and newer CPU.
Neither support Flash.

What about the orange san fransciso, its easily the best budget Android phone available. It can be unlocked for free and is easily customised and rooted. All this for £100

I sold my HTC wildfire, the san francisco is another league, especially the display.

I'm after a new phone and the HTC Wildfire is the one a few people have recommended to me. I wanted the Desire until I saw the price

I want a Pay As You Go on 02 network with a decent camera, good internet access, and a radio which a few of the more expensive models don't have, and this seems to fit the bill. Have heard the battery life and screen res aren't great but at around £160 you can't expect everything to be perfect.

Hope you end up with the one you want

reviews i have read state wildfire does have flash..not 10.1 but it does have basic flash which allows for inbedded videos on bbc etc

as for san francisco,i also heard good thigns but im on orange and it has orange icons/widgets,im not gonna get it unlocked so i just dont like the presentation much, ill look it up again though to be sure

the wildfire is basically a mini desire for cheap, optimus one seems to be more powerfull so im still weighing it up

If you don't care about phones too much why not negotiate for a lower priced contract rather than an upgrade?

Also what network are you on as some phones are network specific.

The wildfire has one of the biggest fan bases and much information is duff or ambiguous.

Check its wiki.

wiki also states the wildfire has flashlite and flash support

From HTC's website: "The HTC Wildfire comes with Adobe® Flash® support for online video..."

All I know is that my son can watch YouTube videos on his Wildfire.

i think youtube through an app does not require flash but yeh im pretty sure the wildfire has flash support, wether it gets 10.1 update or not is anoher matter i guess

im reading lots of good thigns about wildfire and san francisco, reviews are always in the 4/5* category for both phones

but i dunno....i tihnk the desire looks nice even those OSF screen is bigger and better...decisions...decisions

Depends if you want to refer to flash lite as flash.
Am sure there will be a few web sites that use it.

Not sure of its capabilities. Maybe some users can say what it works with.

Funnily enough its the LG and SF with the more capable Adreno 200 GPU.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MSM7000
edit above now confirms same GPU

The Wildfire might do a few things better considering the SF has to run a 500% higher resolution screen
