DTI6300 saved from brink
When I got this box 2 years ago I checked this forum and made note of the over heating thing.
I decided to take off the side covers and leave them off to help with cooling... It has run fine for those 2 years (usual crashes etc, but never really broken) However it did finally give up recently so I took it apart. I found that the fan was choked with fluff and dust, so I gave it a good clean, and wriggled all the connectors for good measure. Result: It started up and is quite happy. Actually the fan runs a lot slower now, so I figure it is running cooler. My top tip, if you think the fan sounds lounder (and runs at a higher pitch) than you remember, it may be bunged up with fluff, which makes the internals run hot. This makes the processor demand more fan speed, Hope this helps... Pete |
