IPlayer Android app is great
Has anybody else downloaded it yet? Just been having a play about with it, great quality streams and catch up as well as very easy to navigate to find what you need. Far better than the awful console versions.

There have been reports on modaco about problems with lip-sync after playing a programme more than 30 minutes.
I gave it a go this morning and found it went out of sync within minutes. If your using something with a small screen you may not notice.

I'm pretty disappointed to be honest.
It's WIFI only, no 3G access. You can't have it running in the background, ie for radio, as it turns off with the screen. Also, there are no downloads. But I guessed that there wouldn't be. The UI is nice though. I'll continue to use 'beebplayer' for now as this works over 3G. FYI I use a Galaxy Tab, so it may be a different experience for some. |

The lip sync works fine on the Desire HD, nice vibrant screen though it is amazingly battery hungry.
Will i be able to use it on holiday? |

My Galaxy S is running on 2.2.1 and have Flash 10.1.106.6 so I meet the requirements. @bananaman_007 how did you get hold of it? Darren EDIT @Ollie_h19 - If you search for 'BBC iplayer' in the Android app store and you should find it. |

Searched for BBC Iplayer nothing came up, maybe something to do with lower res screen, slower processor etc? Or is that nothing to do with it? I'll search just iplayer next time see what that brings up. |

I have found this to be poor rather than great.
There is not much reason to use it over the already well designed mobile iPlayer site. There is no support for 3G. No ability for offline play. Live stuff will not stream in the background. I am seeing plenty of this: "This content doesn't seem to be working. Try again later". |

Will try the wildfire tonight see if it comes up. |

It works on my Desire HD, but is quite jerky. As is the browser version. I have beebPlayer which is much better. iPlayer was giving up with "content unavailable" when beebPlayer could play it happily, with no jerks.

Galaxy S here, I've found and installed it. Went via the Market though as AppBrain couldn't find it.

I had to reduce the Video Quality settings down to Low Quality (400kbps) just to get anything to play <goes off to use the Wii version instead>. Darren |

Perhaps it was contention ratios. Have you tried at other times?
I get better performance on the wii so I'm sticking to that for the time being

Are there any hacks for Android that can turn screen off or right down WITHOUT stopping the audio, then back to normal automatically after exiting iPlayer?
iPlayer on Apple devices does not have this problem. BBC seems to be dong somersaults to hang onto Flash when it's obviously useless for portable radio listening, |

Noticed this was now usable over 3g, but has added some odd permissions.
'High' quality is still pixellated to heck though, don't know why this should be the case when its fine on the iphone version? |
