Did you eventually manage to get the remote from her to check?

TBA seems to have disappeared today. 1 less channel here and no channel 45.

Yes: confirmed, it's been removed altogether.

During the past two weeks the MHEG (text) screen was missing, but it was still in my channel list as an "invalid service".

CHANNEL 45: The channel that never was.

Perhaps it was the original successful applicant of the BBC/Arqiva joint capacity that has been readvertised six months after the original advertisment. In other words: a broadcaster secured the slot, reserved the LCN in January (although it didn't appear then, it must have been reserved because Challenge had to go to ch46), but then failed to launch, so that the slot is being readvertised.

Yes now there is no entry for LCN45 TBA in the NIT or SDT. Its 3 months ran out, which is a condition of reservation of a LCN in DMOL's terms and conditions. Obviously there was no prospect of the channel launching.

Now why is LCN84 CNN still showing a caption apparently without any licence? It went off air in November 2010. Answers on a postcard to Ofcon.

I don't know how it can do it without a licence, but the fact that LCN84 CNN is still there at all is probably because, IIRC, the DMOL rules about the three month limit only apply to new channels, rather than ones that have a temporary (or not so temporary in this case) hiatus

So that's what TBA stood for then... To Be Abandoned

Please lock this thread now.

It's just gathering more junk posts. The channel has been removed, not launching.

Now we can have another 40+ pages of conspiracy theories as to why the channel never launched, if it ever intended to, was it just a ploy to keep LCN 45 free, who has LCNs 44 & 46, are DMOL taking back handers.......?

QVC Beauty launched on 4th May 2011, the CH45 TBA had until 9th May to launch based on the 3 month rule (aas it appeared on 10th Feb), so TBA wasn't meant to be QVC Beauty.

What LCN was QVC Beauty on?

Right ok... I'm thinking now that UKTV might launch on Channel 45 but now it's longer than 3 months I think that would be unlikely.

Well, it's been confirmed that they'll be launching on LCN20, so no

Then they'll probably be able to get associated channel status to get LCN25 for something else due to Home being near there

The previous poster may mean Yesterday+1?
Muzer

Possibly... but I'd expect Yesterday +1 to get 25 due to associated channels with LCN26 Home. I think it's possible, no, probable, that LCN45 was originally going to be one of the UKTV channels, but I don't think it will be now due to LCN20 becoming available.

They are allowed to shuffle channels around in limited circumstances (more logical order, associated channels nearer each other, etc). Potentially, Yesterday+1 could go to 20, Yesterday to 19, Dave down to 12 and Really on 25, or various other combinations which involve Yesterday and Yesterday+1 being next to each other, and may or may not affect Gold and Home.
