I really do!

I'm on my 3rd handset after a week and a half after upgrading and it just dies ALL the time!

Proper, proper, proper fed up!!

Anyone want to buy a handset?

What dies? what are you doing to them?

I'm not doing anything!

I've only downloaded 5 apps which I rarely go on if at all. I may text 3 times and the battery literally dies before my eyes!

I think so, I have my googlemail and hotmail. Googlemail is a must. So do I turn the emails off?

If you are having so much trouble with it, could you not just return the handset and cancel the upgrade?

If still within 14 days it shouldn't be a problem

Do you use a livewallpaper? That'll kill your battery, as will using alot of widgets on your homescreen and as someone already said, auto updating email apps. If you really must use your email, either set it to a lower refresh time or set it to only refresh when you open the app. Also turn off GPS if you don't need it, that's another battery hog. Haptic feedback(Vibrate when you select anything) is something else that's better off disabled too!

I tried to change the phone to a Blackberry Torch last Saturday exercising my 14 days policy but apparently once an upgrade has been done and the sim used they can't change it to either a BB or iPhone!

I'm sending my husband back to shop tomorrow as it's the 14 day deadline, technically the contract is still in his name, so he can try and sort it out for me.

CW keeps asking to choose another smartphone, I don't want another smartphone Dave!

It's on a HTC wallpaper, not the live one. How can I sort out the email, I have no idea? GPS is off, so the Wifi. I have unticked a lot of boxes.

I restored it back to factory settings as advised by HTC today and now I can't find any of my contacts. The girl in CW saved it to my SD card last Saturday when I was given another phone. Now I can't find them anywhere!

If you really aren't getting on with it and just want rid the following pages should help

Distance selling returns policy

How to return by post

CPW should accept the return and reset your contract back to what it was before you upgraded as long as you are still within 14 days

Ok will try this tomorrow.

If tomorrow is still within your 14 days then that's fine.

If for whatever reason CPW wont play ball and accept you can return it I'd start using phrases like "Sale of Goods Act" and "Not Fit For Purpose". You could also try getting advice from consumer direct

This is assuming that you want rid of the phone. If not by all means try the other suggestions which will increase the battery life. Of course if you are having to switch features off in order to get a decent amount of battery life out the phone it does beg the question of why have those features in the first place. But hey!

I don't know how to do the email, sorry, I don't use email on mine.

But for the contacts, try going into "Contacts", press the "Menu" button and then select "Import/export" and then "Import from SD card". Your contacts should be there and there should be a way to choose the ones you want and move them to the phone's memory

Right I've packed everything up, phone is going back tomorrow, they had better cancel the contract!

I never want to see that phone again, it is by far, since I've owned a mobile from about 13 yrs, the worst phone I've ever had.

It may be singing and dancing but the battery is absolutely dire and without a battery, what good is a phone.

Exactly! What is the point eh.

I'm sure my husband will sort it out, he's good at debating.

I couldn't even find contacts, it's madness. But I've turned it off and it's going back.

I feel your frustration. I have the Desire (not the HD) and despite turning most applications off still have to charge the thing morning and evening. And what is the point of the phone having having all these flash apps if we cant use them properly. I absolutely love everything else about the phone though.

on my HTC Desire all you do is go into the email app, press menu, goin setting and turn refresh to once a day... then u can manually refresh the email to get your mails...

I don't mind charging it all night then starting again at night every day.

But today took the biscuit, I charged it all last night, took out charger at 7am on full. By 11am when I had my first break (I work in a school), it was on half. I texted my husband twice, that's it, nothing else. By 12.20pm, it was flashing charge battery, battery was on red and the lower half of the phone was hot! Then within 5 mins, it completely died!

I can't see the point of this phone, beautiful yes, useless a bigger YES!

You know, reading all this makes me sooo glad I went for a Blackberry in the end - I was recently looking round for a 'smartphone' - previously I just had a Nokia 6303 - obviously quite old hat now, but a decent enough phone with a good battery life.

Battery life, was in fact, my number one priority - talked to loads and loads of people who all told me that they had to charge their smartphones once per day - sometimes with minimal use.

That alone was enough to completely put me off these type of phones fullstop!

So, in the end, I went for the Blackberry Bold 9780. Brilliant little phone - quite a steep learning curve though, coming from an oldschool Nokia - but - and here's the big "but" - the battery on this, with fairly moderate usage last week lasted exactly.....one week! Brilliant!

At last. A phone I am happy with - fairly decent camera - good applications etc..etc... ok - it may not be all singing all dancing like iphone etc... but give me this phone anyday over something you have to charge up everyday!

I have the Desire HD and use the internet often but only charge it about once every 3 days. That includes calling and texts.

I had a Blackberry Curve 8900 before this stupid HTC, battery life was brilliant.

It's a bit alien at first but once you get used to it, it's very easy to use.

Have fun.

I must admit I'm still getting on fine with my LG KS360 http://www.google.co.uk/images?hl=en...w=1024&bih=545. It does the basic things I need to do, e.g. phone calls, texts, checking weather, news & sport via the internet and, best of all, it has a pull-out keypad. It also has very good battery life too.

I suppose I will get a smartphone sometime but I'd prefer one with a keypad and there are quite a few of those around these days.
