48 = Liberty Savage = 4.15% (Round One)
Ranking at the bottom is Ethan’s fiancé Liberty Savage. Someone who even by Hollyoaks standards is a completely wooden actress and it seems the whole acting lark has passed her by. I’m guessing we’ll be seeing more of Liberty as the whole Theresa/ Ethan romance continues – however you cant help but hope she ends up in Silas’ lovely carpet.

47 = Melody Longford = 6.27% (Round One)
Next up is the uncaring mother of India and Texas who’s daughter’s murder doesn’t seem to be troubling her much. She came into the show at the beginning of 2011 and hasn’t really made a big impression on you lot as she ranks second from bottom.

46 = Ruby Button = 6.90% (Round One)
Completing the bottom 3 line up is another 2011 new character in the form of Duncan’s sister Ruby. Personally I quite like her (a lot more than Duncan anyway), she is a good teen replacement for Amber at any rate. We’ve seen her flirting with both Ricky and Esther – a possible love triangle anyone?

45 = Jamil Fadel = 7.15% (Round One)
The Vanishing and reappearing student that is Jamil comes next – recently reappeared again after a bit of an absence. He ranks within the bottom 5 not really gaining a lot of support within the first round – I guess his major achievement as a character was getting drunk and banging Mercedes – but then who hasn’t done that in Hollyoaks?

44 = Doug Carter = 7.31% (Round One)
The 2nd vanishing and reappearing student comes next in the form of American Student Doug. Doug left in late 2010 – he has subsequently returned to apparently make amends – since his return he though he has supplied Texas with drugs and stolen a ring – so Doug is really a changed man.

=42 = Leanne Holiday = 7.46% (Round One)
Joint 42nd is Lee’s slightly insane almost wife Leanne, who along with Kathleen escapes being ranked in the bottom 5. According to PM’s interview with DS, Leanne is set to become a total nutter during 2011 – so something to look forward to then.

=42 = Kathleen McQueen = 7.46% (Round One)
Tying with Leanne is Theresa’s bad penny mother Kathleen, who is usually brought in with the whole ‘I’ve changed’ nonsense before being revealed to be the same bad mother. Kathleen’s latest storyline involves her charity work for donkeys - with storylines like that its no wonder she isn't higher . Kathleen is the lowest ranked McQueen by some considerable way.

41 = Rae Wilson = 7.56% (Round One)
Is she cursed is she not? Do we actually care? Rae is ranked next; she is effectively the 3rd wheel in the Brendan/ Ste relationship. She recently miscarried her baby and has moved in with new gay character Noah. Her character is becoming more interesting over time – however how she survived the axe when Marquess took over is a miracle really as her time with the curse and Newt was quite bad.

40 = Gaz Bennett = 7.62 (Round One)
The skinhead racist who recently returned ranks just inside the top 40, he terrorised Anita, before a spell in prison. Personally I cant see why the character was brought back at all – we have 2 good villains in the show already in the form of Warren and Brendan, why do we need a 3rd who is badly acted and just plain horrible. We may have seen a glimpse at his next big storyline as he kissed Heidi Costello – which no doubt will all come out at the wedding.

39 = Finn O’Connor = 8.18% (Round One)
Completing the bottom 10 is 13 year old baby maker Finn, who after his encounter with Amber hasn’t really been given a lot to do – just react to whats going on around him. With Rob not coming back I think the O’Connor’s future is a bit uncertain – no doubt we’ll see him in some form in 2011 – possibly making more babies with someone.

44 for Doug? Really, people? Really? Oh he should be much higher. As should Leanne for that matter. Gaz is above them both?!!

38 = Gilly Roach = 8.22% (Round One)
One of Hollyoaks’ longest standing current characters is next in the form of the completely dull Gilly. For the life of me I cant figure out how he has never been axed from the show; he has never been a great character and since Steph’s death only seems to have got worse. With the rape allegations coming up soon too, I can only see his character going further into the realms of unlikeability.

37 = Lynsey Nolan = 9.12% (Round One)
A quite high ranking for someone who hasn’t been on screen a lot of late (and what have seen has been mainly with Gilly). She featured heavily during the run up to Malachy’s death, and is now coupled with ‘Liam Gallagher wannabe’ Gilly. How long she remains with him is another matter with the rape allegations looming.

36 = Mandy Richardson = 9.31% (Round One)
Had this been running a couple of years ago then Mandy would be challenging for a final 12 spot. However her bizarre return and relationship with Warren seems not to be doing the trick this time around as all she can do is limp into the 36th spot. As an all time favourite character Mandy ranks up, there – but at the moment she is anything but interesting. Hopefully things will improve for the character as its crap seeing such a good character not getting good storylines etc.

35 = Tom Cunningham = 9.62% (Round One)
Another character if this was run a couple of years ago would’ve been challenging for a top 12 place, is Mandy’s brother Tom. Tom seems to be a bad omen character – whoever looks after him seems to die a horrific death; only OB has managed to survive his curse. He is now in the care of the Osborne’s and to me doesn’t really seem to fit anymore – he’s from a time in Hollyoaks that has passed and to be honest I’m surprised he’s still there. Maybe he’ll end up in jail next week for twatting Esther on the back on the head – or maybe that’s just wishful thinking.

34 = Ethan Scott = 9.95% (Round One)
PC Eye Candy is up next at 34; its his job to catch Calvin’s killer and in true Hollyoaks style is has fallen for Theresa, the killer. He is shackled to the lowest ranked character here; but Ethan performs quite well considering he hasn’t been on the show for that long. Had this started after this week I guess he may have ranked slightly higher – as it is he ranks at 34 – however considerably higher than Liberty.

33 = Heidi Costello = 9.96% (Round One)
Next up at 33 is the lowest ranked character from the Costello clan. I reckon when the whole Mercedes/ Carl/ Riley thing comes out we’ll see a whole lot more of Heidi. Her biggest moment has come through the whole Jason/ Jasmine storyline which until she started to accept the situation came across as quite unlikeable. However she has recently embarked on her first proper storyline when she kissed Gaz – how far will she go with this though is another matter.

32 = Seth Costello = 10.08% (Round One)
A place above his mother is Seth who becomes the lowest ranked of the Costello children. Apart from the Hollyoaks Later stuff, Seth has only really had a reactionary role to things that go on around him – since the Jason reveal though we have seen a lot more of him – I think with the Costello’s still establishing themselves we’ll probably be seeing a lot more from Seth when he starts to get his own storylines.

31 = Eva Strong = 10.52% (Round One)
Recently departed Eva comes just outside the top 30, she is pretty much a love/ hate character. She was the mother of Anita and departed the show quite suddenly; it is possible she may return at some point during 2011 – however with Anita now gone for good it seems unlikely IMO.

Set to? She's already been displaying bunny boiler tendencies and has an unhealthy obsession with Lee.

Thanks for all your work on this.

30 = Duncan Button = 11.42% (Round One)
A surprise ranking IMO considering he seems to be pretty much disliked on DS, Duncan comes in to the top 30. Often trying to be the comic relief to a scene, Duncan has been in the show for over a year now and despite the Ashworth’s departing he managed to shack up with Darren. With his sister being introduced to show, I would say 2011 will probably bring more Duncan antics.

29 = Lee Hunter = 11.58% (Round One)
The manager of Guy Candy is next, who was bizarrely brought back to the show despite having no real ties or reason to come back. Personally though I think bringing back Lee has worked, although Leanne is quite irritating, I think his relationship with Amy kinda works. With the budding relationship with Amy, the scorned Leanne and off course Guy Candy’s rising fame 2011 should bring more Hunter action.

28 = Silas Blissett = 12.41% (Round One)
‘He’s behind you!’ that’s right, everybody’s favourite serial killer comes next in your rankings. He murdered India and wrapped her in a carpet at Christmas, where it was revealed he was Heidi’s dad! Its probably only a matter of time before he kills someone again – but who will it be and will he be found out?

27 = Texas Longford = 12.56% (Round One)
The only person who seemed to briefly care other than Nancy about India’s death is her sister; Texas. Texas made a strong bid to go through to the next round, however has to settle for being ranked 27th for 2011. She survived herself against Silas and his carpet in the woods and as above she seemed to be one of the only people to really care about India’s murder – however the whole thing seems to have been swept under Silas’ carpet for now by everyone else.

26 = Anita Roy = 13.11% (Round One)
Newly departed Character is next, who gets an impressive ranking here, Anita seemed to be liked, then not liked and was coming full circle this year as people seemed to like her relationship with Eva and with Jason. Whilst her exit wasn’t exactly high profile or spectacular, she did have a nice moment with Jason before leaving and I guess in likeability terms she went out of a bit of a high.

25 = Diane O’Connor = 13.35% (Round One)
The highest ranked character who got knocked out in the first round was Diane; a character who barring stealing a baby hasn’t really done all too much or integrated that much since her arrival – in fact she’s barely had any scenes outside of the O’Connor’s house. However I think the memory of Jacqui Dixon still burns strong in some and it’s the possibilities of the character. It will be interesting to see what direction (if any) the character will go in with the disappearance of Rob and her now looking after his children.

24 = Suzanne Ashworth = 8.79% (Round Two)
Recently returned Suzanne comes in at number 24 this year – axed along with the rest of the Ashworth clan, the beginning of 2011 saw a heavily pregnant Suzanne return to reveal she is having Darren’s twins. It is unknown how long she is going to stay for and off course some rumours have suggested she may end up in the carpet and a victim of Mr Blissett – however at the moment that seems like rumour more than fact.

I personally like the little "summary" that occurs afterwards. It's nice to have a reflection on the "league" of characters as it is, just like soccer have the premiership

41 = Rae Wilson = 7.56% (Round One)

Now when I think about it though, I'm glad they kept Rae It would have been better than bringing in a new girl for Ste, who we'd have to go through the whole process of getting to know again :yawn: It's nice to have stable characters

36 = Mandy Richardson = 9.31% (Round One)

All of this! So true about Mandy!!

Well done on all your work! I will possibly continue to say that throughout the thread lol!

Good I like her and hate to see her end up in Silas' carpet. I think the fact that she's the mother of newly born twins would be the saddest impact of his killing of her

23 = Frankie Osborne = 10.41% (Round Two)
One of Hollyoaks’ long standing residence is next in the form of Frankie. All her kids may have either left, died or been sectioned – but Frankie is still in the soap, married to Jack and given a new kid to look after in the form of Esther, who has conveniently turned up after Steph died. I think Frankie has been on a slight downward slope the last year or so; hopefully with the introduction of Esther the character may be slightly invigorated

22 = Ricky Campbell = 10.58% (Round Two)
Ricky places just outside of the top 20 – a character who has been in the show for a couple of years now. He had a big storyline with his dad having MS – however since he returned late last year the storyline seems to have gone to nothing. Now part of Guy Candy and a regular part of the teen scenes, it will be interesting to see whether or not the MS storyline is revisited – or in true soap style it becomes ‘forgotten’ – personally I hope its revisited as I thought for the most part it was handled well.
