Left over cheese sauce
Hello All,
I made a thick cheese sauce yesterday for a chicken dish. I have about a pint left over, any ideas on what I could do with it? |

Pour over thinly sliced potatoes and onion and bake slowly in the oven. If you've got ham or bacon you can put that in as well.

Thumbs up here for pinot noir's idea. It also works well with crumbled corned beef in place of ham / bacon.

I got the idea from The Pauper's Cookbook by Jocasta Innes. It was a favourite of mine for a long time.

Leeks in a cheese sauce is a nice side dish, especially baked with breadcrumbs on top.
Or a pasta sauce with asparagus, button mushrooms and leeks, with a hint of tarragon. |

. you could always freeze the sauce for later - then let it defrost & heat it slowly while whisking in some more liquid - milk, water from cooking leeks - whatever! I swear by these http://www.lakeland.co.uk/wonder-whisks/F/product/6312 - had mine for 10 years now & they're just brilliant!!!! |

Well I did as pinot_noir sugested and it was fantastic.
I had a bag of ham ends from sainsburys, chopped them up. It went down a treat with the family. |

Lasagne instead of a white sauce. But the potato idea does sound delish.
