The thing is I think Britney could still sell 5+ million albums, if they released 5/6 singles, promoted properly throughout the era rather than just at the start, have her perform at the major awards shows. She can already sell 4 million without hardly any promo, with a push she could get higher sales.

Although I don't think Jive really work in that way, nearly all eras have followed the same pattern: 3 strongish singles, then things just seem to fizzle out and some random song gets turned into a single and doesn't achieve very much.

But then I think in part that's just Britney, I think she gets bored of eras after a while and turns her attention to her next project, even from a young age she's been like that. I don't think she has the patience to do a Beyoncé or a Rihanna...and I totally get it, I'm exactly the same!

I agree Amy.

The only Era I've really seen her stay really dedicated to is Britney, and that's really only because the Film came out a while after.

That's so true if it wasn't for Crossroads we probably wouldn't have got so many singles from that era.

I kinda hope that after the Femme Fatale era her next project is another film, I would so love for her to do a Tarrantino film, or a film where she gets to play a Femma Fatale. As long as its not some dumb rom-com that Jennifer Aniston would star in!

She said that she would like to appear in a Judd Apatow Film.

No arguement from me!

YES YES YES!!!! and not a backing character like a real main femme fatale would be awesome!

and i agree i think Brit is more than capable of releasing half this album with solid videos and promo at main events and sell around 6 million (which will be close to her sales of In The Zone!) but JIVE seem a bit restricting...nevermind.

also i think UK promo and European Promo will be the week after the album to continue the sales and sustain them! because she will get strong sales in week 1 no matter what with the hype alone and the current single releases. Then her promo over here will sustain the sales across the first part of April.

Then with the video out the promo will continue as will radio play! and then her tour in the summer too which will hopefully come across to here too! and will have announcements about that! and then promote later this year on The X Factor etc. and other events too to sustain the sales and then really push it out until the end of the year

Till the World ends is #9 in America! On wikipedia it says that makes it her 10th top 10 hit over their. I was shocked at this so I looked and it turns out only

Baby One More Time (#1)
You Drive Me Crazy (#10)
Ooops I Did It Again (#9)
Toxic (#9)
Gimme More (#3)
Womanizer (#1)
Circus (#3)
3 (#1)
Hold It Against Me (#1)
Till The World Ends (#9)

have made the Top 10 over their. That's not too impressive is it?

During the peak of Britney's early early career one of the biggest radio station companies, Clear Channel blacklisted Britney because she dropped them as her sponsors for her tour. This meant over half of the radio stations in America didn't play Britney's songs and as radio airplay combined with sales make up the hot 100 chart the majority of her Oops era, the whole of the Britney era and the start of the ITZ era were affected.

Eventually Clear Channel's actions were deemed illegal and she got back on commercial radio!

^ Hi, I know I'm not a fan, but do you have anymore info on that story?
I'm very interested in how the record companies and radio stations can conspire to control the charts and that's a perfect example!

Edit: After googling that company they seem crazy!

Here's a link to a letter written by a congressman about Clear Channel and it references Britney as an arist who has been subjected to a 'punishment' by the company for rejecting their services:

http://www.house.gov/berman/newsroom...el_letter.html

Apparantly her ban lasted from 2001 - 2005 and during that time Toxic was her only top 10 hit, which may explain why one of her defining hits only scrapped into the top 10.

Britney was baned from Radio from her Britney Album-ITZ or something like that cause she had Pepsi sponsor her instead of some other company that controlled the Radio i cant remember the name but if someone finds out then please post it But thats the reason why her songs never got played on the Radio back then.

I thought it seemed odd that songs such as Outrageous, Me Against the Music and I'm a Slave 4 U didn't peak highly in America but did very well elsewhere. I take it Clear Channel banning an artist from their playlists is the equivalent to the BBC doing something like that over here

exactly, so imagine she had the Airplay in the U.S during BRITNEY and ITZ she would of had huge hits over there.

Cause the songs did well everywhere else.

It wasn't just the ITZ era, it was the whole of the Britney era and some of the oops era.

I've always wondered why Britney's 'Overprotected' didn't chart higher, I mean I wasn't expecting top ten but as its so brilliant (it reached 4 in UK I think) the Clear Channel story clears this up!
