iphone 4 & factory fitted bluetooth car kit???
battlezone

I'm seriously thinking of upgrading to an iphone 4. I've heard of bluetooth connectivity being a bit hit and miss to other non apple devices.

My car has a factory fitted bluetooth handsfree car kit. It works perfectly with my current Nokia.

Has anyone had issues using an iphone with car kits?

We recently fitted a Blaupunkt Hamburg car stereo with Bluetooth. I was so sure it wouldn't work I made sure the 'aux in' lead was also fitted into the back of the unit.

Needn't have worried, iphone4 and and iphone3 both work perfectly streaming audio and making calls. The only thing it doesn't do is show track and artist information, which it should. I assume this is an iPhone thing. Worth making sure your iphone OS is the latest, as using IOS3 on the older phone did mean occasional dropouts.

(The phones 'auto connect' on getting in the car. On the stereo you can set which is the master phone)

Thanks for the info. I've found out my brother has an iphone 4. Going to see him this weekend so will try it then.

Hope all goes well...

The iPhone 5 will no doubt have proper blue-tooth functionality.
I'm not sure if iPhone 4 and below will be enabled.

Mine works fine with my factory fit bluetooth.

Only needs pairing once and it's ready to go. Can view contacts and messages too!

Hi all.

Thanks for the replies.

I tried my brother's iP4 in the car at the weekend. It works perfectly (Laguna III). I didn't try to upload any phone book details etc. I have loaded phone book entries from my Nokia. As the details are stored inn the car I'll be able to access that way.

iPhone 4 works fine with me in a 2010 Golf. Pair it once & it finds it each time car starts up. Also transfers phonebook to the car & auto updates car with new entries

Now that bit I'll like. Coz at the moment I have to transfer each contact seperately!

Update. I've now got me iP4.

Can you tell me how to upload the entire phonebook via bluetooth?

I just cannot find a way to select all contacts to send them to the car.

Thanks.
