Xfers from Humax to PC failing

Hi, I have a pVR9200T and have started using Media Controller. It generally seems to work well most times(much much better than the elinker which fails every other go) but sometimes when it completes "successfully" the .ts file will not run properly on my PC. On these occaisions the picture is totally pixelated and it is unviewable, also no sound.

The file on the PVR runs fine and dandy, the download appears to work but the transferred .ts is up the creek ?! Any ideas ..?

Have you tried a different USB cable?

Try selecting games mode before making the transfer.

Hi, I haven't tried a different cable as most files transfer okay in one go. It's just certain files which I've tried to transfer several times. They always appear to transfer OK (i.e. HMC reports a successful transfer) but then when I play the file it is all pixelated ... it's a bit like the pixelation you sometimes get viewing a live TV program when the reception is poor. I have started transferring when switched to "games" but it makes no difference to these files.

Most transfers work but some just refuse to.

Try making another copy on the PVR.
Yes that's right - start it playing on the PVR and press the record button.
Then try transferring the copy.

I occasionally used to get something that sounds very similar. I either had to cut off the first couple of megabytes, or load the file into PVA Strumento (make sure you set the output file with a different name and/or location to the input file) or ProjectX (both free) or VideoRedo. I ended up buying VideoRedo to edit out the ads and haven't looked back!

You should be able to find help on using PVA Strumento and ProjectX either by searching this forum or the equally excellent videohelp.com. Search through their list of tools and then see if there are any guides for that tool. I would help more, but it's sooo long since I used either PVA Strumento or ProjectX that I'd probably get it all wrong anyway.

BTW which media player are you trying to play the .ts files on?

Hi, thanks for the suggestions I will try them both. I guess I can trim bits off the start and end on the PVR itself - I will cehck out the manual. I use Humax Media Controller btw as elinker seems to fail all the time.

Fantastic it worked. The only drawback isthe time it takes, the program which was 1.5 hours long but that seems asmall price to pay. Thanks nvingo !

I've never experienced the problem (or tried the workaround) so I'm really glad it was successful.

ProjectX sorts out most problems of this sort for me and runs on the PC. It's significantly quicker than 1.5 hours, I can usually edit a programme full of adverts to chop them out and make a copy that works in under 15 minutes (depending on the length of the programme of course). Just a copy of an hour long programme takes about 2 minutes here with another one minute to chop front and back (a BBC programme with no adverts)
