FoxSat V-FORMAT
Hi all,
Can someone explain what the different V-FORMAT's are for that are available by choosing from the remote control. Does this relate to picture quality? 1080i / original / 576p / 720p What is the default setting? |

It selects what resolution the box outputs to the TV. It can either output one of the the fixed resolutions to the TV regardless of what the original broadcast resolution is (converting and scaling the picture as necessary) or it can output the broadcast as-is in its original resolution and let the TV do the scaling.
It's a matter of preference what setting you use, depending on whether you watch mostly SD or HD, what the native resolution of your TV is, and whether your TV has a better scaler then the Humax. Try different modes and see if you have any preference. One disadvantage of usng Original is that you might get slow resolution changes and an information banner on the TV when the broadcast programme or channel changes its resolution, whereas if you use one of the fixed resolutions then the TV doesn't have ro readjust itself. |
