Viewing Copied Files on a New Box

I have just proved a problem with the Infra Red Receiver on my Humax Foxsat/Freesat PVR with Humax Technical Support.

They are going to send me out a refurbished item once I fill in the usual details and send back the form and proof of purchase (good job it was a two year guarentee from JL since I bought it Sept 2009!!!).

If I Copy all my current Recordings to my USB Hard Disk, will I be able to view them on the new box when it arrives???

Any standard def recordings are unencrypted so too are BBC one HD. However ITVHD and BBC HD are encrypted so they will not be viewable on your refurb box.
Any recordings made using the non-freesat mode reboot method are unencrypted also.

Contact Humax, I think they can copy the HDD for you and download to the replacement unit.

I think you will find that bob_cat said that they will try and match the encryption key on the replacement unit, in any case this will mean them having both units at once. Never seen an offer to transfer existing recorded content.

Thanks Gas et all.
Busy copying to a Fat32 Hard Disk and getting rid of stuff which was still sitting there!!!

Looks like most things will copy OK as they are either BBC1 HD or SD recordings

Thanks again for the info
