You're half right. Yes, they do have big plans for Roman but that will be at the expense of The Bassman. You can expect to see Roman turning up between 1 and 4 before too long. Probably around the same time that Rob Howard takes over London drive from Greg Burns.
Ashley is almost certainly sharpening his axe as we speak, ready to rampage round Leicester Square like an egocentric Grim Reaper! ![]() |

Anyone could do what she does! Her voice sounds nice, that's her only talent if you can call it that. I've noticed that the presenters on Kiss do talk a little more than Capital. So maybe she will have to talk for 40 seconds now.

So I exaggerated slightly. But I think what you're saying is ridiculous also. I don't know how you can think she's pretty good. What's good about her exactly? She comes on briefly between songs and says how the next song has dominated the Big Top 40 for the last few months (or some other rubbish) and then presses play. That's it. That's not talent, in any shape or form.
I think she'll sound good on Kiss. |

What you’ve got to remember is that presenters will be working to a format and doing the show with the brief they’ve been given. I heard Pandora on other slots on Capital and a couple of times on Choice and I would say she sounds a bit more restricted on Capital mid-mornings.
I think she'll sound good on Kiss. |

Live at the Brits show
I think if they its a live at the Brits show it should be as broadcast on TV with Ant & Dec etc and the live performances, not just normal tracks with odd sound bites

I note this thread has been fairly RAJAR-less. Just taking a look at Capital's London-only results over the years.
On the surface, market share has been fairly static since they stopped dropping like a brick after the 2006 relaunch. I believe that was when Scott Muller came in and moved it back to the hit music format. But, at 4%, it is their second lowest ever share in the capital (yes, Botson, wait for the trend). Well, actually, there kind of is a trend. Only one quarter above 4.2% in the last 5 books. This is all due to a consistent decline listening hours over the past 20 years. Looks like they steadied around the Muller period and continued that way 'til the end of 2011. Since then, they've fallen off a cliff again. Down to 4 hours per listener. It was 7 as recently as 2009, and 10 in 2000!!!! So what does this mean for the Global strategy? By its very nature, and its target audience, you wouldn't expect Capital to have astronomical listening hours. But Heart's trend is hours falling off a cliff in London too (5 per listener in the last book), and Kiss and Magic are both outperforming them. All thoughts welcome. |

One station I do like of Global's is Capital Xtra. They actually let their DJs speak, and talk about the music. |

Toni Phillips is one of the best DJs on the planet. Great, personable style. Brilliant voiceover too. And hot as all hell to boot.

VERY much doubt that. She's been ditched from there twice in the past. Will probably be that Rónán Kemp. He was doing all the videos at The Brits last night so obviously being 'groomed' by Ashley for bigger things
Oh Roman is the future "Star" of Capital, Daytimes are coming his way for sure. |

I'd like to see Toni Phillips get the 10am slot- she brings loads of personality, engages with the music really well and sounds slick and polished. Don't think she will get it though- they'll probably bring in a robotic safe pair of hands. I miss listening to Toni on Saturday afternoons on Capital. I imagine they'll want a woman so the schedule isn't all men from 1am-10pm. I'll stick my neck out and say that Polly James will be brought in from Capital South Wales Breakfast.
Roman is definitely destined for daytimes. Think they're grooming him for a more personality-based show like London Drive. They gave him the Saturday evening show and changed it so he had guests on and did games- don't know why they'd do that and then put him on at 1pm to replace Bassman which is a slot which seems to be minimal talking and a "that was, this is" style of presenting. I'm surprised they don't just make him Dave's co-host on breakfast. They probably want a male-female dynamic but the Union J guy and TOWIE person have no radio experience and don't bring anything to the show IMO. They're pushing Roman and he's familiar to the Capital Breakfast audience and he's young- why not? I hope Ant Payne gets afternoons. He's a great music radio presenter and understands the format so well. Really like listening to him- he deserves more than a weekend show and daytime cover. I do wish they'd bring James Barr back- he sounded brilliant on the station, had bags of personality and energy and fitted in so well. One of their best presenters and they let him go. He'd be great to have on after Marvin on Fridays and Saturdays. Think the schedule in a few months might look like: 4am : Toby Tarrant 6am : Capital Breakfast with Dave Berry, Roman Kemp & a permanent female co-host 10am : Polly James 1pm : Ant Payne 4pm : Greg Burns 7pm : Marvin Humes 10pm : Max 1am : Will Cozens |

I wouldn't bank on Dave Berry being around much longer. In fact with President Ashley now running the shop in person, I predict a lot of changes.

Also, don't forget that Dave Berry was one of the first out of the door when Admiral Park's son, Paul "don't press that button!" Jackson, took charge of Capital 95.8 back in 2007. Always worth having a long memory
