So the ads on the regional stations, are cheap to run.

Its like the Smooth Radio situation again. Wonder what Communicorp's views are on this.

Like i said on the other Capital thread, if Ashley goes down that route of dropping local programming, the only problem will be that Capital Scotland, and Capital North Wales/ South Wales, they would either hand the license back to Ofcom, or sell it to another radio group?

Both Capitals are under Communicorp's ownership. I think if my mind is correct, only way for local stations to drop (not just regional) local hours whilst on national DAB, is that it has to be of a format that's not chart related - like Radio X in Manchester.

If they somehow got around that and the only thing stopping them is the devolved nations rule, they should agree with communicorp to drop the Capital brand on their FM output and encourage listeners in those areas to retune to DAB. Communicorp would just relaunch the stations under their own brands.

EDIT: to clarify Capital South Wales and Scotland are owned by Communicorp.

Gaps of silence during the songs on Capital North Wales last night, its not the network it's something to do with the Great Orme transmitter in Llanddudno, and this morning capita on 96.3 fm sounds like it's broadcasting from a BT line.
